Holders Out Of ODM Munster Senior Cup

ODM Munster Senior Cup and Bateman Cup holders Garryowen were knocked out by Cork Constitution at Temple Hill when the Cork side booked their place in the semi final of the ODM Munster Senior Cup.

Cork Constitution came from 6-0 down after thirty five minutes to eliminate Garryowen from this year’s competition on a 16-6 scoreline.
A drop goal from Jamie Gavin and a penalty by Eamon Connolly had the visitors 6-0 ahead before James Ryan scored a try for Con’ a minute before half time.
Two penalties from Gerry Hurley and a try by Cathal Quinn ensured the Cork side’s place in the semi finals.

Cashel will be away to Cork Constitution in the last four after the Tipperary side recorded a 49-20 home victory over Old Crescent.

U.L. Bohemian also booked their place in the last four with a hard earned 22-6 away win over Sunday’s Well at Musgrave Park. The home side took an early lead with a penalty from Ian O’Regan inside the opening minute, but Ben Martin had Bohes level by the tenth minute with a penalty. The visitors hit the front with a try by Mossie Lawlor after good work by Ben Martin and Martin McPhail which Martin converted eight minutes before the break. O’Regan landed a second ‘Well penalty on the stroke of half time.
Two tries in the opening four minutes of the second half by Derek Farrell and McPhail and a Martin conversion ensured the Limerick side’s unbeaten run this season continues.

In the last of the first round ties Shannon defeated Midleton at the Towns Park on a 24-12 scoreline and setup a quarter final tie against Young Munster.
Midleton raced into an early 6-0 lead with two penalties from Paul Daly but a try by Rob Guerin on fourteen minutes settled the visitors' nerves. Ben Sargent gave Shannon an 11-6 interval lead with two penalties.
Both sides exchanged penalties in the opening minutes of the second half and two further penalties by Sargent extended Shannon’s advantage to eight points before Daly kicked his fourth penalty. The Limerick side made sure of victory with a last minute try from James Murphy which Sargent converted.

In the only game played in the ODM Cyril Fitzgerald Plate Bruff defeated Highfield 20-13.
