Holders Rockwell Advance In Schools Senior Cup

Rockwell College, Crescent College Comprehensive and Christian Brothers College all booked their places in the semi-finals of the Munster Schools Senior Cup.
Rockwell College 25, Castletroy College 7.
Holders Rockwell College easily brushed aside the challenge of Castletroy with a deserved victory at Clanwilliam Park to set up a semi-final meeting against the winners of Thursday’s clash between Ardscoil Ris and St. Munchin’s which goes ahead at Annacotty.
Center Rory Parata was the star for Rockwell scoring twenty of his side’s points. He was the reason why they led 18-0 at half time. He opened his account on seven minutes with a penalty and then added a try and conversion six minutes later.
A break by Sonny Dwyer setup Parata for his second try on thirty minutes and he kicked a penalty on the stroke of half time.
Castletroy missed a few penalty chances in the opening half and Liam Cronin got in for a try early in the second half when Rockwell had a player in the sin bin and Conor Linehan converted.
Steve McMahon completed the scoring with a try for Rockwell and Parata added the extras.

Crescent earned themselves a semi final meeting against C.B.C. after a hard earned win over P.B.C. at Musgrave Park.
Playing with the wind Crescent led 11-0 with penalties from Gearoid Lyons on nine and twenty two minutes and a try by full back James Frawley a minute before half time.
Pres’ came back into contention with a try eleven minutes into the second half from Conor Casey which John Poland converted. J.J. O’Neill restored Crescent’s advantage with w try and Lyons converted.
In an exciting finish Max Abbott scored a second try for Pres’ but Crescent held out for victory.

Christians are through to the last four of the Munster Schools Senior Cup after an emphatic victory over Glenstal Abbey at Temple Hill.
Despite playing into the wind in the opening half Christians were on the attack from the start. A lineout on the Glenstal Twenty Two saw Christians maul the ball to the goal line where Glenstal were penalised and their number 8 Jack Boland was yellow carded. Christians opted for a scrum and from a well rehearsed move winger Gerry Ryan got in for a try and Tomas Quinlan converted.
It was 10-0 to the Cork side after ten minutes when Quinlan converted a simple penalty.
Glenstal settled into the game and good work by their back row of Conor Hughes, Rossa Dooley and Jack Boland brought them back into contention and they opened their account on twenty one minutes with a try from out-half Kevin O’Keeffe. Three minutes later O’Keeffe kicked a penalty from just inside the halfway line to leave the score 10-8 at half time.
Christians made full use of the elements in the second half and extended their advantage with a try by Liam O’Connor in the seventh minute of the half, when a clearance by Glenstal saw the wind blow the ball back and O’Connor was first there to gather the ball and touchdown. Shane McAuliffe showed a quick pair of heals to score the next try and Quinlan converted and they added two more tries in injury time from McAuliffe and
