Horan Hosts Scrum & Lineout Workshop At LIT

The first of four Scrum and Lineout Workshops kicked off this week at Limerick Institute Of Technology as part of the Munster Rugby Coach Development programme.

Coach Development Officer Noel O Meara coordinated the workshop and focused on scrum play for coaches working at stages 2, 3, and 4.

Guest tutors on the night were former Irish international and Shannon RFC Head Coach Marcus Horan who was assisted by Shannon’s U20 Head Coach Pat Brown.

Over 30 coaches from clubs and schools in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary were in attendance. Marcus worked with players from the North Munster Development Squad and Nenagh Ormond’s U16 players.

Following the session Marcus held a questions and answers forum for all coaches that took part, representing Under 15 level through to adult rugby.

LIT will continue to be the host venue for an upcoming Lineout Workshop on 16th December which will be tutored by the Munster Rugby Academy Manager Peter Malone. This precedes a further workshop on Coaching Best Practice from a laws perspective scheduled on 25th January which will be hosted by International Referee Johnny Lacey.
