Huge Turnout At Scrum Coaching Workshops

The Munster Rugby Development Department, in conjunction with the province’s ‘1-2-3 Club’ scrum clinic coaches, hosted two scrum workshops on Monday in Cork and Limerick.

The workshops were part of the department’s coach development programme and were hosted by the province's '1-2-3 Club' coaches, which include Conor Twomey, Marcus Horan, Dave Lee, Colm McMahon and Ultan O'Callaghan, who are also part of the IRFU National Scrum programme.

Over 70 coaches attended in total and the emphasis was on developing player competencies in the scrum. Munster professional players John Ryan and Stephen Archer attended the Cork session and identified strategy to developing scrum technique whilst Munster scrum coach Jerry Flannery (below) presented at the Limerick session.""
The province's '1-2-3 Club' players were on hand for the practical element in both centres with the coaches offered technical coaching queues to developing player capacities.

Munster Rugby would like to thank CIT and Young Munster for use of their facilities and to the '1-2-3 Club' coaches and players for hosting the workshop.

The Munster Rugby '1-2-3 Club' hold scrum clinics every two weeks for up-and-coming young front-row forwards to develop the scrum culture in the province.

Check out the video below as Munster Rugby's Elite Player Development Manager Peter Malone and Ireland Scrum Coach Greg Feek explain what takes place at these specialised training sessions.

The IRFU Elite Scrum Coach Seminar recently brought together a number of scrum coaches and professional players to discuss 'key trends and key findings' and also share new information on scrums.
