The Munster U18 Schools were defeated by the narrowest of margins on Tuesday evening against Italy U18s at Thomond Park Stadium in a pre Interprovincial warm up friendly.

The home side were first on the scoreboard following a penalty kick off the boot of out-half Ben Healy.
Munster soon increased their lead with an impressive backs move resulting in centre Seán French stepping inside to score close it the posts.

Healy made no mistake adding the extras to bring Munster’s advantage to 10-0 midway the first half.
Fullback Jonathon Wren was next over the line with an impressive break from half way beating a number of Italian defenders to put Munster 15-0 ahead nearing the break.
The visitors were quick to respond following a neat chip through sending the Italian winger over in the corner. A successful conversion closed the gap for the for the side going in 15–7 on the half time whistle.
The second half got off with a Healy penalty stretching Munster’s lead to 18-7.
Next up to score was Italy who claimed a try from the forward pack after a series of drives close to the Munster line closing the gap to 18-12.
Deep into injury time the visitors crossed the whitewash for the third time under the posts, leaving a simple conversion for them to snatch victory finishing up 18-19.
