Tomas Quinlan kicked three penalties and two conversions In Cork Constitution's 23-17 victory over Highfield

Cork Constitution gained revenge in Division 1A of the All Ireland League over Garryowen after defeat last week in Dooradoyle. Shannon return to the top in Division 1B and Old Crescent need late penalty try to keep unbeaten record intact.

The Big derby game in Temple Hill saw Cork Constitution run out comfortable winners 37-11. Two tries from Max Abbott both converted by Tomas Quinlan and a penalty had the home side 17-6 ahead at half time. Neill Cronin kicked two penalties for Garryowen.

After the break Con’ were awarded a penalty try and Conor Kindregan also scored a try to secure the bonus point. Quinlan added a conversion and two penalties. Garryowen’s reply was a try by Lorcan Bourke.

Young Munster bounced back from last week’s defeat by Terenure with a 15-5 win over the same opposition. Conor Hayes and Jack Lyons scored tries for “The Cookies” and Shane Airey added a conversion and a penalty.

Shannon defeated leaders Ballynahinch 49-19 on the back pitch in Thomond Park to regain top spot in Division 1B. Conor Fitzgerald and Fionn McGibney each scored two tries for Shannon and Pa Ryan and Ty Chan got one each. They were also awarded a penalty try and Fitzgerald kicked six conversions.

U.C.C. recorded the double over UL Bohemian with a 13-7 victory at the Mardyke. All the scores came in the opening half with Peter Sylvester scoring Colleges try and James Taylor converted and added two penalties to give the Cork students a 13-0 lead. Harry Fleming replied with a try for UL Bohes and Mike Mullally converted.

Dolphin still remain bottom of the table after their 16-11 home defeat by Banbridge. Barry Fitzgerald scored Dolphin’s try and Barry Keeshan kicked a penalty.

Highfield still remain a point behind leaders Malone in Division 2A after their 35-10 home win over Galwegians. Luke Kingston scored two tries for the home side and David O’Sullivan, James Daly and Miah Cronin also crossed the white wash. Paddy O’Toole kicked five conversions.

Nenagh Ormond remain in third place after their 22-17 home win against Blackrock College. Jamie McGarry, Conor Muldoon and Kevin O’Gorman scored tries for Nenagh and Clayton Stewart kicked a penalty and two conversions.

Cashel lost ground in the promotion race after their 37-19 defeat away to City of Armagh. Niall Fitzgerald scored a try for Cashel and Darragh Lyons converted and added four penalties.

A dramatic penalty try in the closing stages at Navan earned Division 2B leaders Old Crescent a 19-18 victory. Brendan Guilfoyle and Sean Monaghan scored tries for Crescent and Ronan McKenna kicked a conversion.

The Rainey Old Boys v Sunday’s Well game was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Thomond closed the gap to three points on leaders Sligo in Division 2C after their 18-14 home win against Bective Rangers. Ger Finucane and Dean O’Brien scored tries for Thomond and Evan Cusack added two penalties.

Bruff moved up to fourth place after their 19-12 away win at Midleton. The visitors who trailed 6-5 at half time had two tries from Jack O’Grady and one from John Hogan. Dave O’Grady kicked two conversions. Stuart Lee replied with four penalties for Midleton.
