Ireland U19 Team To Play Australia Schools
4th December 2018 By The Editor
The Ireland U19 team, sponsored by PWC, to play Australia Schools in Energia Park at 2pm on Saturday, 8 December has been named.
A total of seven Munster players have been selected in the match-day 23, including Tommy Downes, Jack Delaney, Charlie O’Doherty, Paddy Kelly, Scott Buckley, Aaron Hennessy and Louis Bruce.
Hooker John McKee, now playing his rugby with Old Belvedere and a member of the Leinster sub academy, will captain the side.
He is joined in the front row by Harry Noonan and Charlie Ward. Conor McMenamin and Kelly will pack down in the second row with Cian Prendergast, Ciaran Booth – who came through the IQ Rugby programme – and David McCann in the back row.
There’s an all Munster pairing in the half backs with O’Doherty at scrum half and Delaney at out half.
Hayden Hyde, another IQ Rugby player, and Downes pair up in the centre with Aaron Sexton, Andrew Smith and Oran McNulty in the back three.
The team is coached by Tom Tierney with Assistant Coaches Mark Butler and Colm Tucker. Tucker recently guided the Connacht U18s to success in the IRFU U18 Inter-provincial festival.
