IRFU Engage Programme Workshop Delivered To Munster Development Coaches
13th December 2022 By The Editor
Last week, Munster Rugby full and part-time Development Staff undertook training on the IRFU ENGAGE programme.
The workshop was delivered by Dr Caithríona Yeomans, IRFU Medical Manager for the Developmental Game and Patrick Dolan, UL Doctoral Researcher Sport Science and Irish Rugby Injury Surveillance-IRFU.
The workshop was a practical delivery and staff were introduced to the purpose of the program, together with movements and activities involved with integrating readiness, robustness and performance exercises.
ENGAGE is an integrated and structured player readiness and robustness programme aimed at enhancing rugby performance and enjoyment.
ENGAGE aims to guide teams through a structured preparation programme before training and matches, with helping players to warm up, reduce the risk of injury and improve performance.
The exercises will help create more robust players, ready for the demands of training and match-play.
There are three main phases; readiness, robustness and performance. By adopting these phases, coaches and players are aligning to good practice principles and getting ready for the demands of training or games.
The program resources include videos and wallet cards. These can be accessed on the IRFU Level Up resources here: https://www.irishrugby.ie/running-your-club/levelup/engage/
