IRFU U18 Festival Reports | Munster U18 Schools & Munster U18 Clubs

Munster U18 Schools recorded a draw with Leinster in their second Interpro match of the IRFU U18 Interprovincial Festival, while Munster U18 Clubs lost out to Connacht at UL yesterday.
Both sides have one round of fixtures remaining with Munster U18 Schools set to face IQ U18 Rugby this Sunday (kick-off 11am), before Munster U18 Clubs take on their Leinster counterparts in the final match of the festival (kick-off 5pm).
Munster U18 Schools 7-7 Leinster U18 Schools
There was nothing to separate the two sides during an exciting Interpro encounter at UL after a scoreless first-half resulted in a converted try a piece come the full-time whistle.
Munster’s Jack Delaney missed a penalty opportunity early on in the match before Leinster regained control of possession.
In the 39th minute, it was Leinster who recorded the first points on the board through Josh Pyper before Josh Cosgrave converted.
Munster then responded with Harry O’Riordan making an impressive break through the defence to touch down, while Delaney lined-up the conversion and drew level in the 57th minute.

Munster U18 Clubs 17-47 Connacht U18 Clubs
Munster U18 Clubs lost out to Connacht in their second Interpro outing at the U18 Interprovincial Festival on Wednesday afternoon.
Connacht claimed the first score through Oisin McCormack with Cathal Forde converting to take the lead in the second minute.
Munster’s Tony Butler then got on the end of a pass to secure an intercept to race over the line before converting his own try in the 17th minute.
A penalty from Butler then extended Munster’s lead before Connacht scored their second of the match through Aodha Hession, while Forde added the extras.
Connacht continued to dominate possession and were rewarded with another score before the break.

After the interval, it was all Connacht with a further two tries sending them further in front.
Munster’s Butler then went over for his second try of the match, which he stepped up to convert.
However, Connacht remained on top throughout the closing stages and managed to secure their seventh try to make a mark on the competition.
