Italy U20’s Snatch It

At last minute penalty in injury time from Italy’s replacement out-half Luca Sqarbossa gave his side a narrow 25-23 victory against the Munster U19’s tonight in Musgrave Park.

Munster U19: 23, Italy U20: 25

Munster’s Tomas Quinlan opened the score after 12 minutes with an impressive try in the right corner which he narrowly failed to convert.

Italy’s Matteo Archetti replied two minutes later getting over the line with out-half Filippo Cantoni unable to add the extras bringing the score level at 5 a-piece.

In the fifteenth minute Munster took the lead for the second time courtesy of a well struck penalty by Quinlan.

Italian captain Adrian Daniele crossed the line for his side after 19 minutes which Cantoini had no problem converting brining the scoreline 12-8 in Italy's favour.

It was the sheer brilliance from speedster Eoin O’Carroll that brought Munster to a 13-12 lead at the break following a sprint from the half-way line leading to an impressive individual try.

A second half try from Munster centre Steve McMahon after the 47th minute widened the gap for his side which Quinlan had no trouble converting.

Italian replacement Davide Pasini kicked a penalty five minutes later to which Quinlan replied bringing the score 23-15 to the home side.

Sqarbossa got over the line for the Italians after the 66th minute converted by Pasini bringing the score 23-22 to Munster, however it was a last minute penalty kick, also taken by Pasini which clinched it for the visitors.
