Jerry Murray Past President RIP
25th March 2015 By Munster Rugby
It was with great sadness that Munster Rugby learnt of the passing of former Munster Branch President Jerry Murray on Monday.
The Cork Constitution club man captained his side to treble success when securing the Cork Charity Cup, Munster Senior Cup and Munster Senior League in the 1966/1967 season.
The former Munster second-row was a member of the 1967 team that famously defeated Australia 11-8 in Musgrave Park in the first ever provincial win over a Southern Hemisphere touring side.
Elected President of Cork Constitution for the 1994/1995 season, he went on to serve as President of the Munster Branch during 2000/2001.
Munster Rugby would like to extend their deepest sympathy to his wife Lulu and children Ann Louise, Niall, Jean and Jerry.
There will be a minute’s silence before Munster’s PRO12 game against Connacht on Saturday in Thomond Park in respect of the late Munster Branch President.
