John the Baptist Community School Top M&S Emerging Schools Finals Day

John the Baptist CS were the winners of the 1st year blitz at Thomond Park.

John the Baptist CS were the winners of the 1st year blitz at Thomond Park.

The Marks & Spencer Emerging Schools Finals Day took place at Thomond Park earlier this month with 16 schools from Clare, Limerick and Tipperary taking part.

The 1st year 11-a-side competition drew to a close with John the Baptist Community School coming out on top.

Newport College, Cashel Community School, Nenagh College, Mungret Community College, Ennis Community College, St. Joseph’s CBS Nenagh, John the Baptist Community School, St. Clements, St. Ailbe’s, Coláiste Mhuire Thurles, Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, St. Flannan’s, St. Mary’s Newport and St. John Bosco Community College also participated.

Munster’s Tyler Bleyendaal and Arno Botha also stopped by the M&S Emerging Schools Finals Day for photos and a Q&A with the players.

The aim of the Emerging Schools Initiative is to engage with students, in non-traditional rugby schools, and provide them with the opportunity to play and experience rugby.
