Fethard, who face off against Dungarvan in the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plate final at Ballinakill

The quarter finals of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup are down for decision, together with a handful of games across other Junior competitions.

Young Munster continue their defence of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup with a home tie against Highfield. The winners will be away to Cork Constitution or 2014 finalists Clanwilliam, who meet at Temple Hill, in the semi-finals.

Bandon host Cashel and the winners will be rewarded with a home semi-final against Richmond or 2014 winners Clonmel, who meet at Richmond’s second pitch at Garryowen Green.

There are two ties in the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plate. Thurles, who won the trophy two years ago, are away to 2012 winners Presentation in the quarter finals. The winners will be at home to Mallow in the second semi-final.

Nenagh Ormond are at home to Castleisland in the first semi-final.

The Munster Junior Bowl final takes place at Ballinakill with Fethard taking on Dungarvan.

Muskerry are at home to Skibbereen in a basement clash in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League, where a win will guarantee top flight rugby for the West Cork side next season.

Waterpark who are already promoted to the first Division following their relegation last season travel to Charleville to claim the Division 2 title, with the North Cork side already relegated to Division 3.

Crosshaven and Kinsale go head to head in a game that both sides need the points to avoid finishing third last and a possibility of relegation.

Two quarter finals in the Division 3 Play-off series are down for decision.

Killorglin are at home to Bantry Bay and the Mid Kerry side should be too strong for Bantry and will be expected to book a home semi-final tie against Chorca Dhuibhne or Fethard.

Douglas-Carrigaline travel to the Kingdom to take on Killarney and the winners will meet Dungarvan in the semi final.

A host of Rebel rivalries at the foot of Division 1.

There are full program of games in the top two divisions of the Munster Junior League.

There are two Cork derby basement clashes in Division 1.

Muskerry have slipped into the drop zone following their 10-5 away defeat by Galbally and they face a tough assignment against Skibbereen, who ground out a valuable 9-8 win over near neighbours Clonakilty.

Clonakilty and Cobh Pirates who are both directly above the drop zone lock horns at The Vale. The home side claimed a losing bonus pint against Skibbereen last time out and should be too strong for the Pirates, who are without a win since they defeated St Senan’s 34-28 in East Cork in early November.

Clonmel will be looking to take another step closer to retaining their title as they host fifth-placed Abbeyfeale and a victory would see them retain the title for the third time.

Four sides aiming for top four finishes go head to head as Clanwilliam travel to West Cork to take on Bandon and Newcastle West travel to the Premier County to take on Kilfeacle.

Elsewhere, Richmond host St Senan’s in a mid-table clash and Galbally are at home to Old Christians, who have been relegated.

Division 2 leaders Waterpark will be looking to wrap up the title as they only need a point from their visit to North Cork to take on relegated Charleville.

St Mary’s and Youghal are level on 40 points each but the Saints currently hold second place. St Mary’s are at home to Waterford City and Youghal host Ballincollig in a Cork derby.

In other games Presentation travel to the Banner County to take on Ennis who are already relegated and Thurles are at home to Tralee.

There will be nothing more than local pride at stake at Myrtleville Cross as Crosshaven host Kinsale in a South Cork derby and the other game at this level sees Mallow travelling to Castleisland on Saturday for a 7pm kick off under lights.

The Munster Junior League Division 3 Play-off series also gets underway to determine which Club will join champions Mitchelstown in Division 2 next season.

The Chorca Dhuibhne v Fethard tie has had to be postponed due to a shortage of referees.

The winners of that tie will be away to Killorglin or Bantry Bay, who go head to head in Mid Kerry on Sunday.

Killarney are at home to Douglas-Carrigaline and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Dungarvan or Fermoy, who meet in West Waterford.

Elsewhere, the final of the Gleeson League Junior 2 competition, organised by North Munster Sub-Committee. takes place tonight at Garryowen featuring Garryowen v Richmond at 7.15pm.

The committee expanded the competition this year to include teams from Tipperary and Waterford. It was played in two Sections. The competition proved to be a great success. The Semi-Finals saw holders Garryowen beat Cashel and Richmond travel to defeat Waterpark.

Shannon have narrow win over Richmond to win McInerney Cup

Shannon RFC narrowly defeated Richmond RFC 26-19 to win the McInerney Cup at Canal Bank. It was a closely contested game played in good conditions. The McInerney Cup is played in the memory of late Jim McInerney who was a Thomond RFC member and is open to Junior 2 teams.

The Referee of the Final was Adrian McInerney of M. A. R. who had previously won the cup on two occasions. His father was Jim McInerney in whose memory the cup is played. After the match, Ger Malone, Junior Vice-President of Munster Branch invited Adrian to present the trophy to the winning Shannon Captain, Barry McNamara.
