Junior Rugby Preview

There is a full program of games across all three divisions in the Munster Junior League, with proceedings getting underway in Division 3 tonight.

In Division 1, there are local derbies in West Cork and West Limerick.

Joint leaders Bandon, who recorded a maximum point away win in their opener against Cobh Pirates, should prove too strong for Skibbereen at Old Chapel.

In West Limerick, Abbeyfeale will be looking to make the most of home advantage count following their 24-0 opening day away win over St Senan’s as they lock horns with Newcastle West.

Defending champions Clonmel will be looking to maintain their challenge for a fourth successive title and claim all points on offer as they host Galbally.

Richmond, who are also on five points, will be expected to make life difficult for newly promoted Youghal at Richmond Park.

Kilfeacle, who recorded a maximum point away win over Youghal welcome Kanturk to West Tipperary, with the Duhallow side coming off the back of a narrow 13-10 home win over Waterpark.

In other ties, Clanwilliam welcome Cobh Pirates to Tipperary Town and Waterpark and St Senan’s go head to head at Ballinakill with both sides coming off the back of opening day defeats.

Proceedings in Division 2 get underway on Saturday evening in the Kingdom as Castleisland and Crosshaven, who are joint second, go head to head under lights.

There are two derbies in Cork as leaders Old Christians are away to Mallow and Muskerry are at home to Kinsale.

St Mary’s open their account with a home tie against Clonakilty, who ran out 20-18 home winners over Thurles.

Thurles will look to bounce back as they entertain Killarney.

Elsewhere, Waterford City entertain Ballincollig, with both sides getting their campaigns under way.

In the opening series of games in Division 3, Chorca Dhuibhne make the long trip to Fethard tonight for a game under lights.

Charleville and Ennis, who were both relegated from Division 2, lock horns at the North Cork venue.

Dungarvan and Killorglin, who will be aiming to be among the promotion hopefuls, begin their campaigns with home ties against Douglas-Carrigaline and Bantry Bay respectively.

Tralee, who are surprisingly playing in this division for the first time, begin their quest for a quick return to Division 2 with a home game against Fermoy.
