There were four finals decided this weekend with victories for Presentation, Midleton, Clonakilty and Cork Transport.

Presentationwon the Munster Junior Plate for the first time with a 28-12 win over Dungarvan at Annacotty.Tries from Stephen Ryan and Craig Phayer and a conversion and drop goal by Shane O’Brien gave the Limerick side a 15-12 interval lead. Conor Foley replied with four penalties for Dungarvan. O’Brien added a penalty to leave six points between the sides with five minutes to go but the Second Division side finished the stronger with a second penalty from O’Brien who also converted a try by James Ryan.

Midletonended a fourteen year gap when they won the Cork County Cup for the eleventh time with a narrow 17-16 victory over Kinsale in front of a large attendance at the CIT Sports Ground.

Kinsale playing in their second final looked like they were heading for victory after going into the lead on eighteen minutes with a wonderful try from Stephen Murphy which Paul Perez converted, until Midleton ace kicker Paul Daly landed his fourth penalty seven minutes from time to secure victory for the east Cork side.

It was Daly who opened the scoring with a penalty after nine minutes, only for Perez to equalise four minutes later before converting Murphy’s try. Daly and Perez each added two further penalties to leave Kinsale 16-9 ahead at half time.

Eleven minutes into the second half a great Midleton move involving Greg and Dave O’Sullivan saw winger Emmett Sweeney go in for a try to leave two between the sides and there was no further scoring until skipper Daly’s late strike to secure victory.

Cork Constitution will meet Garryowen at Temple Hill next Sunday in the final of the Munster Seconds League after both Section winners won their respective semi finals.

At Temple Hill Cork Constitution continued their good run with a 20-0 win over Young Munster. A try by Conor Desmond converted by Sean Óg Murphy gave the home side a 7-0 half time lead. Sean Óg Murphy added a try, conversion and two penalties after the break.

Garryowen defeated Dolphin 48-6 at Dooradoyle. Mick Lynch scored two of his side’s six tries with Jack Donovan, John Mark Griffin, Barry Sheehan, and Alan McMahon being the other try scorers. Jamie Galvin kicked five conversions and two penalties and Kevin McEvoy added one. Paddy Moakley replied with two first half penalties for Dolphin who trailed 22-6 at the break.

It has been a great five days for Cork Transport after winning the Junior Three Cup South final for the first time on Wednesday night with a 12-6 victory over Sunday’s Well at Musgrave Park, they added the McCarthy Cup at CIT when they defeated Mitchelstown 11-6. Dwane McPhilbin scored the all important try in the opening half for a 5-3 half time lead. Mark Bevan added two penalties after the break for the ‘Port and Ritchie Barry kicked two penalties for Mitchelstown.

Holders Carrigaline will meet Old Christians in this season’s Kelly Cup final after both recorded wins over Kanturk and Mallow.

Carrigaline travelled to Kanturk and came away 33-16 winners. David Donoghue, Jason Corkery, Kieran Kelleher, Roy Murphy and Ray Donoghue scored tries for Carrigaline and Donnacha Kiely kicked four conversions.

Old Christians defeated Mallow 16-8 in the other semi final at Rathcooney. A drop goal from Darragh Daly and a penalty by Aidan Tobin gave Old Christians a 6-3 lead at half time. Rory McSherry replied with a penalty for the visitors. Stephen Twohig added a try and Tobin and Gavin Murphy each kicked a penalty for the winners and Dave O’Leary replied with a try for Mallow.

Clonakiltywon the Paul Twomey Cup with a 20-7 win over Bandon at The Vale. Donal Duignan, Gearoid Calnan and Alfie Harte scored tries for Clonakilty and Calnan kicked a conversion and penalty. Bandon’s only reply was a try by David Aherne which Andrew Willis converted.

There was great news for the Munster club sides in the All Ireland Under Age Semi Finals at Clifford Park where Shannon-St. Mary’s defeated Monivea 20-3 in the Under 19 game and Bruff won the Under 17 tie against Westport 11-10.

The finals are scheduled for Naas next weekend.
