Clonmel and Skibbereen share top spot in Division One of the Munster Junior League and Youghal and Killorglin are the early pacesetters in their respective Divisions after yesterday’s results.

Clonmel have moved a point ahead of their nearest rivals in Division One after their 28-0 away win over Kilfeacle. Ben Martin opened the scoring with a penalty for Clonmel after ten minutes and a try from Kieran McArdle converted by Martin left it 10-0 at half time.
Two tries from Frankie Quinlan, a conversion and penalty by Martin and a Conor Cooney drop goal secured the points for the visitors.

Skibbereen are in second place a point behind the leaders after their 15-13 home win over Crosshaven. Two penalties by Kieran Doran had the visitors 6-5 ahead at half time. Peter Mihaere replied with a try for the home side. A penalty, try and conversion by David Shannon made it three wins from three for the west Cork side. Michael Buckley replied with a try for Crosshaven and Doran converted but the Crosshaven kicker was unlucky in the final minute when his penalty attempt just fell short.

Waterpark ended St. Senan’s unbeaten run with a 25-17 victory at Ballinakill to move into third place. Paul Hackett and Murray Kinsella scored tries for the Suirsiders and John Flynn kicked five penalties. Dylan Sonnemann and Fernando Gallant scored tries for the Clare side and Declan Collins converted both and also added a penalty.

Richmond bounced back after last week’s defeat by Clonmel with a 25-3 home victory over Cobh Pirates. A try, conversion and penalty by Stephen Clancy and a Jeff McNamara penalty made it 13-3 at half time. Eamon Ronan scored a penalty for Cobh. Emmet Harty and James Hayes added tries for the home side and McNamara kicked a conversion.

Kanturk continued their good form with a 30-16 home win over Old Christians. Darragh Meade, Bryan O’Neill and John Duggan were try scorers for the Duhallow side and Meade converted all three tries and also added three penalties. Old Christians replied with a try from Paddy Walsh and a conversion and three penalties by Conor Mangan.

Clanwilliam recorded their first win with a 24-18 home win over Tralee. Padraic Ryan, Brian Rahilly, Gavin Ryan and Sean Walsh scored tries for the Tipperary side and Derek Shields added two conversions. Jeremy Walsh and Patrick Galvin replied with tries for the Kerry side and Brian Mullins added two penalties and a conversion.

The Galbally Thurles tie has been put back a week to next Sunday.

Youghal are the clear leaders in Division Two after their 24-22 away win over Ballincollig. Alan Moloney, Alan Fox, Killian Daly and Stephen Kelly scored tries for Youghal and Alan Frahill kicked two conversions. Kevin Doyle, Glen Murphy and Dave Baston replied with tries for the home side and Kevin Ryan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Four sides are in joint second place a point behind the leaders. Newly promoted Presentation maintained their unbeaten run with a 19-6 home win over Newcastle West. Kevin Donnellan and Mark Phair scored tries for the Limerick side and Phair kicked three penalties. Alan Roche replied with two penalties for the West Limerick side.

St. Mary’s defeated Newport 25-3. Pat Tobin, Ryan Hartigan and Sean Markham were try scorers for the home side and Sean Lyons kicked two penalties and two conversions.

Mallow won their local derby with Muskerry on a 25-16 scoreline. Mikey Flynn, Richard Weedle and Michael Sweeney were try scorers for Mallow and Sean Glynn added two conversions and two penalties. Muskerry replied with a try from Jaydee Meyer and Eoin Keohane kicked a conversion and three penalties.

Kinsale defeated Castleisland 14-8. Frazer Hodgson scored a try for Kinsale and Paul Perez added three penalties. William Casey was Castleisland’s try scorer and JJ Casey kicked a penalty.

Killarney defeated Scariff 28-23. Paul O’Sullivan, Padraig Hallassey, Padraic Sheahan and Brian O’Leary scored tries for the winners and Sheahan converted all four. Scariff replied with tries from Paul McTiernan, Stephen Madden and Pat Minogue. Trevor Kelly kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Bandon and Ennis shared the spoils at Old Chapel. Des Prendergast scored a try for the home side and Sean O’Riordan converted and added a penalty The Clare side replied with a try from Brandon Grant and a conversion and penalty by Bryan Murphy.

Killorglin won the top of the table clash in Division Three with a 32-0 home win over local rivals Corca Dhuibhne. Liam Griffin, Mikey Griffin, Noel O’Reilly, Dave Coffey and Ian Walsh were try scorers for Killorglin and Coffey kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Charleville’s recent good run came to an end when they lost away to Dungarvan 17-15. Eoin Cunningham, Joey Lawlor, and Dave Reynolds scored tries for Dungarvan and Conor Foley kicked a conversion. Ger Sheehan and Peadar Cronin replied with tries for Charleville and Shane Corkery kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Bantry Bay defeated Kilrush 58-0 to move into joint third place with Waterford City. Pat Daly scored three tries, Sean O’Donoghue two, and Barry Russell, Frank Cronin and Jimmy Griffin one each. Brian Keohane kicked six conversions and two penalties.

Waterford City defeated Dunmanway 29-3. Simon O’Hara scored three tries for the winners and Damien Kennedy one. Darren Walsh kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Carrick-on-Suir overcame Abbeyfeale 19-13. Charlie O’Keeffe kicked four penalties and converted a try by James Wallace. Michael Enright scored a try for Abbeyfeale and Sean Enright kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Douglas were 52-17 away winners over Shandon. Alan Walsh and Darren McEniry scored two tries each for Douglas, Sean Lehane, Mick Cassidy, Niall O’Connor and Stephen Neville got one each. Barry Hynes kicked six conversions. Conor Buckley replied with two tries and a conversion for the Whitechurch side and Paul Hogan also got a try.

Cork Constitution defeated Midleton 25-8 in the Munster Seconds League South. Eoin O’Donnell, Garret Murray, Conor Desmond and Paudie Sheehan scored tries for the Temple Hill side. Peter O’Sullivan kicked a conversion and penalty, Diarmuid O’Sullivan replied with a try for Midleton and Paul Daly kicked a penalty.

Mitchelstown defeated Douglas in the Junior Three League South 15-5. Ed Horgan and Richard Barry scored tries for the winners and Barry added a conversion and penalty.
