Junior Rugby Round-Up
23rd November 2014 By Munster Rugby
It was a disappointing weekend for Newcastle West who made their exit from the All Ireland Junior Cup with a defeat by Dundalk.
Saturday was one of the historic days in Newcastle West when a very large crowd turned up for their All Ireland Quarter Final tie with Dundalk but it was the experience of the Leinster League leaders that decided the tie as they ran out convincing 24-10 winners.
Sean Herlihy scored a penalty in the opening half for Newcastle West and he converted a try by James Kelly late in the game.
In Division 1 of the Munster Junior League Clonakilty kept their challenge alive with a 31-20 away win over bottom side Kinsale. The home side led 13-10 at half time with tries from Colm McCarthy and Barry McQuaid and a penalty by Barry McGorey to two tries for Clonakilty by Stephen Cotter.
