Great start for Richmond in the Round Robin as Muskerry and Mallow gained promotion to the First Division of the Munster Junior League for the first time and Killorglin and Waterford City were promoted from the Third Division.

A bonus point victory for Richmond in their opening game in their All Ireland Provincial Championship after their 29-0 win over Monivea at Richmond Park. The winners led 12-0 at half time with tries from Mike Kelleher and Gareth O’Hanlon and a Brian Mullins conversion. James Kelly scored a third try and they were also awarded a penalty try to secure the bonus point. Mullins converted both and also kicked a penalty.

Robbie Doyle was the toast of Clanwilliam as he scored all his side’s points in their 22-19 win over Clonmel in the Munster Junior Cup tie after extra time. Clonmel looked to be in control of the game as they led 16-0 approaching half time, when Doyle started his side’s come back with a penalty on the stroke of half time. Conor Cooney opened the scoring with a penalty for Clonmel after ten minutes. A try by David Lonergan five minutes later, followed by a second Cooney penalty and another try by Donogh Campbell on the half hour mark put the visitors 16-0 up.
Cooney restored Clonmel’s sixteen point advantage with a penalty immediately on the restart. Doyle then scored a try and conversion on fifty minutes and followed up with three penalties, the last in injury time to tie the scores 19-19. A fifth penalty by Doyle in the first period of extra time setup a quarter final tie next week for Clanwilliam against Richmond.

The big game in Division Two between Muskerry and Castleisland drew a large crowd to the Ballyanly venue which would decide who would join Mallow in the top flight next season.
Mallow were free on this the final weekend of league games and Muskerry preserved their unbeaten record with a deserved 21-7 victory.
The home side led 13-7 at half time with two tries from William Healy and a penalty by Jonathan Buckley. Matthew Ahern replied with a try for the Kerry side and Connie Reynolds converted. A try by Martin Muldoon and a drop goal by John Herlihy proved decisive as Muskerry picked up the vital points to finish top of the table.

At the other end of the table Carrick-on-Suir were relegated following their 27-0 away defeat by Bandon. Eoin O’Donovan scored two tries for Bandon and Gearoid Crowley one. Cathal Crowley converted all three and also added two penalties.

Newport avoided the drop as a result of their 17-12 home win over Ennis. Tom Ryan and Niall Collins scored tries for the winners and Philip O’Brien converted both and also added a penalty. John Moore and Brandon Grant scored tries for Ennis and Conor Dolan kicked one conversion.

Killarney defeated Thurles 19-15 and the losing bonus point was enough to keep the Tipperary side in Division Two. Brian O’Leary, Declan Foy and Timmy Dudley and two conversions by Paudie Sheahan earned Killarney the points that sees them finish fourth. Jason O’Mahony, Enda Callinan and Ian Stanley replied with tries for Thurles.

Kinsale defeated Dungarvan 45-7. Ian Costello scored two tries for the winners and Pat O’Regan, Barry McQuaid, Peter Murphy, William Crowley and Sean Kingston each scored one with Murphy kicking five conversions.

A try by Eoghan Lynch and two Mark Phair penalties was enough for Presentation to overcome Youghal 11-10. Alan Moloney replied with a try for Youghal and Jonathan Ormond kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Killorglin will make it three Kerry sides in Division Two next Season as they clinched promotion with a 19-8 away win over Ballincollig in their top of the table clash. Tries by Peter Slattery and Barry Sheehan and a conversion by Luke O’Shea gave Killorglin a 12-3 half time lead. Denis Galvin kicked a penalty for Ballincollig. Fergus Considine added a try for the home side but a third try by Noel O’Reilly converted by O’Shea made certain of victory for the visitors.

Waterford City made sure of promotion as they finished their campaign with a 56-0 away win over Scariff. Damian Kennedy and Conor Power each scored two tries and Dave O’Connor, Gary Keane, Fintan Purcell and Trevor Griffin got one each. Aaron Foskin kicked three conversions.

Douglas ran in six tries in their 40-7 home win over Dunmanway-Bantry Bay. Eoin Philpott scored two tries and Dave Murphy, Steve O’Sullivan, Mike Scanlon and Niall O’Connell got one each. Philpott converted five of the tries, Eoghan McCarthy replied with a try for the visitors and Dan McSweeney converted.

Skibbereen knocked out holders Midleton 55-0 out of the Cork County Cup. David Shannon was their top scorer with four tries, six conversions and a drop goal. Peter Stout, Patrick Ryan, Ger Hurley and Declan Coppinger also scored tries.

Highfield booked their place in the semi finals of the Munster Seconds League with a last minute converted try to beat Garryowen 25-18. Ritchie Duggan scored two tries for the winners and Brian O’Hea got one. Colm Downs kicked two conversions and two penalties.

In the other quarter final tie played U.L. Bohemian advanced to a semi final meeting with Cork Constitution following their 31-12 win over Cashel at Annacotty.

Carrigaline advanced to the semi finals of the Junior Two Cup South with a 36-20 away win over Shandon. Kieran Kelleher scored two tries and Clive O’Mahony, Peter Kelleher and Andy Bulger got one each for Carrigaline. Peter Kelleher kicked four conversions and a penalty. Conor Buckley, Eoin Murnane and Charlie Foley replied with tries for Shandon and Barry Leahy kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Cork Constitution easily brushed aside the weak challenge of a Waterford City side 60-7 to reach the quarter finals. Rory O’Sullivan scored three tries for the winners and Dave Clark, Sean Keohane, Conor O’Flaherty, Kevin Minihane, Paul Ryan, Eddie Quinn and Dave Hayes got one each. Simon Barry kicked five conversions. Stephen O’Rourke replied with a try for Waterford.

Cobh Pirates booked their place in the last four with a 51-0 away win over Castleisland. Killian Hawes scored three tries for the winners, Cian Connolly contributes two tries and three conversions and Jack Cahill, Tadgh Hawes, Danny Keating and Mark Dunphy got one each.
