Junior Rugby Roundup

The All Ireland Junior Cup dominated the junior programme this weekend with victories for both Kilfeacle and Newcastle West, as both Bandon and Richmond suffer away defeats.

Kilfeacle booked their quarter final place in the All Ireland Junior Cup with a 20-18 home victory over Cooke. Brian Barlow, Bob Purcell and Brendan Barron scored tries for Kilfeacle and Luke Heuston kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Newcastle West had a narrow 27-26 home win against Connacht side Creggs. Alan O’Riordan and Alex O’Halloran scored tries for Newcastle West and they were also awarded a penalty try. Shane Airey converted both tries and kicked a penalty, with O’Halloran also adding a penalty.

Bandon lost away to Gorey 17-12. Davide Marcheti and Scott Kingston scored tries for Bandon and Darragh O’Brien kicked a conversion.

A depleted Richmond side were no match for Bective Rangers at Donnybrook suffering a 38-10 defeat. Jordan Dillon scored Richmond’s try and Josh Moloney kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Clanwilliam won the Mansergh Cup with a hard-fought win over Fethard on a 32-28 scoreline. Gavin Downey scored two tries for Clanwilliam and Diarmuid Dennehy, Jack Quinlan, and Darragh Crowe got one each. Ben Downey kicked two conversions and a penalty. Fethard replied with two tries from Robert Wall and one by jack Kealy. Peter wall added three penalties and two conversions.

The draw for the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup has been made and it is:

Final – 24th March
