There is no change at the top of Division 1 of the Munster Junior League as Abbeyfeale and Youghal extend their advantage in Division 2 and 3 respectively.
St Senan’s the only side to defeat Clonmel last year in the league, travelled to the Tipperary venue and gave a good account of themselves before going down 14-8.
Fernando Gallant opened the scoring with a try for the Clare side but three penalties from Conor Cooney had Clonmel 9-5 ahead at half time.
A try from Ronan Crosse fifteen minutes from time extended the home side’s advantage, before a late penalty from Emille Maffat secured Senan’s a losing bonus point.
Richmond still remain in second place after their 20-3 home win over Newcastle West.
A penalty from Mick Mullins and a conversion of a try by Mike Kelleher had Richmond ten points up after fourteen minutes.
Mullins added a penalty just before half time to lead 13-0 at the break.
Sean Herlihy opened the visitors account with a penalty six minutes into the second half.
Gareth O’Hanlon scored a late try for Richmond which Mullins converted.
Kilfeacle have moved level with Richmond on points after their bonus point 35-17 home win over Waterpark.
Kilfeacle led 20-10 at half time with tries from Darren Lowry and Shane Looby with Looby converting both and also kicking two penalties.
Scott Hornibrook replied with a try for Waterpark and Geoff Deegan converted and also added a penalty.
Josh Featherstone and Cormac O’Donoghue added further tries for Kilfeacle and Looby kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Waterpark were awarded a penalty try and Deegan converted.
Bandon’s recent good run continued after their 30-14 home win over St. Mary’s sees them move into fourth place six points behind the leaders.
Kieran Essex and Colin Jackson scored first half tries for Bandon and Richard Walsh kicked a conversion and a penalty for an early 15-0 lead. Robin Gallagher scored a try for the Saints on the stroke of half time and Sean Lyons converted.
Essex and Scott Kingston added further tries for Bandon with Walsh converting one.
Danny Hickey replied with a second try for Mary’s and Lyons converted.
Walsh wrapped up the scoring with a penalty five minutes from time.
Clanwilliam defeated Old Christians 21-15 at Clanwilliam Park. Two penalties from Niall Leahy and Sean Meaney had the sides level 6-6 at half time.
Despite playing into the strong wind in the second half Clanwilliam had a try from Dave Kenehan and were also awarded a penalty try. Leahy converted one and also added a penalty. Meaney replied with three penalties for the visitors.
Skibbereen won the west Cork derby with a 12-9 away win over Clonakilty.
Denis McCarthy kicked four penalties for Skibbereen and Clonakilty replied with two penalties from Dave Lombard and one by Mark Purcell.
The Muskerry v Galbally tie was postponed due to the weather.
Abbeyfeale have extended their lead at the top of the Second Division following their 34-0 home win over Ennis.
James O’Meara scored two tries for the winners and Thomas Hassett, Michael Roche and Michael Enright got one each. Hassett kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Second placed Kinsale’s game at Charleville as well as the Newport v Dungarvan ties were postponed.
Cobh Pirates defeated Mallow 19-0 to move into second place. Mick Keating, Rory Geary scored tries for Cobh and they were also awarded a penalty try. Eamon Ronan added two conversions.
A try from Conor McMahon and a penalty by Craig Airey helped Presentation to an 8-7 win over Ballincollig at Tanner Park to see them move into fourth place six points behind the leaders. Robert Foulkes replied with a try for Ballincollig and Charlie Boland converted.
Castleisland won the bragging rights in Kerry when they defeated arch rivals Tralee at Castleisland under lights on Friday night. Daniel Casey scored two tries for the winners and William Casey contributed a try, conversion and two penalties. Gearoid Leonard kicked a drop goal. Ben O’Neill replied with a penalty for Tralee.
Thurles kept their promotion hopes on track with a 28-0 home win over Waterford City.
Shane Lanigan scored two tries and Colm Skeehan got one. Aidan Dwyer converted two of the tries and added three penalties.
The top of the table clash in Division Three saw Youghal go top after their 24-8 home win over Chorca Dhuibhne.
Ian Broderick, Steven Kelly, Scott O’Sullivan and Aaron Daly were Youghal’s try scorers and Keith McCarthy kicked two conversions.
Ciaran O’Coileain replied with a try for the Kerry Gaeltacht side and Shane Griffin kicked a penalty.
A try from Kenny Donovan and a conversion and penalty by Ian Smith helped Crosshaven to a 10-6 away win over Killorglin. Luke O’Shea replied with two penalties for Killorglin.
Douglas-Carrigaline opened their campaign with a 31-0 home win over Scariff. Ray Donoghue, John Kidney, Brendan Barrett and Rob Maher scored tries for the South Cork side.
Padraig McSweeney kicked four conversions and Conor O’Regan added a penalty.
Fermoy preserved their unbeaten run with a 6-5 away win at Carrick-on-Suir. The sides were scoreless at half time.
Dylan Lacey kicked two penalties for the visitors and Jack Murphy replied with a late try for Carrick’.
Bantry Bay recorded their first win of the campaign with a 25-5 at Fethard. Ciaran O’Sullivan, Mark Le Lievre and Brian Keohane scored tries for Bantry. Sean McCarthy kicked two penalties and a conversion and O’Sullivan also added a conversion. Paddy Cuddy replied with a try for Fethard.
Cobh Pirates defeated Mallow 29-27 in the Junior Two League South with tries from Dave Chandler, Killian Barry and Aaron O’Flynn. Ian Jones kicked two conversions.
