Clonmel made a winning start to their All Ireland Provincial League campaign with a hard earned 10-6 victory at home to Ballina.

The sides were level 3-3 at half time with Luke Hogan scoring Clonmel’s try mid way through the second half and Conor Cooney kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Killarney are promoted to the Second Division of the Munster Junior League next season after their 16-15 away win at Killorglin.

Ger Moynihan scored Killarney’s try and Paudie Sheahan converted and added three penalties. Tony Lynch and Dave Hayden were Killorglin’s try scorers and Luke O’Shea added a conversion and a penalty.

Kinsale booked their place in the final of the O’Neill Cup after they knocked out the holders Youghal 14-10 at Snugmore. Timmy Broderick scored a try for Kinsale and Sean Kingston kicked three penalties.

Youghal replied with a penalty try and a conversion and a penalty from Keith McCarthy.

Kinsale will now face the winners on next week’s second semi final between Crosshaven and Charleville.

Garryowen retained their Gleeson League title  with an 18-6 win over Richmond in an exciting final at Grove Island.

It was 9-9 at half time, Garryowen extended their lead with Kevin McEvoy’s fourth penalty early in the second half but a try from Dara Oxley converted by Brian O’Neill put Richmond 16-12 ahead.

McEvoy kicked two further penalties the sixth deep in added time to give Garryowen victory. O’Neill also kicked three penalties for Richmond.

Highfield booked their place in the Junior 2 Cup South final after a 17-15 win at Woodleigh Park over Cork Constitution.

Niall O’Brien scored two tries for Highfield and Danny Cushley got one with Dave Eustace kicking one conversion.

They will now face Dolphin in the final.

Clonakilty and Bandon will have do it all again after the sides finished level 14-14 in the semi final of the Dave Dineen Cup.

Travis Coomey and Peter Deane scored tries for Clon’ and Joe Lee converted both.

Scott Kingston and Ryan Hayes replied with tries for Bandon and Andrew Willis converted both.
