Greg O'Mahony scored in Skibbereen's 24-19 away win against St. Senan's

Skibbereen caused a big shock in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League after their 29-3 away win at Bandon.

Last week Bandon started their campaign with a 66-7 away win at Cobh and Skibbereen lost at home to Clonmel 51-7. Munster Junior Cup holders Bandon would have been confident going into this local derby of maintaining their challenge for the league title.

Skibbereen as they have proved in the past can never be under estimated and they were fully deserving of this bonus point win with Greg O’Mahony scoring three of their tries and Richie Byrne got the other. Denis McCarthy kicked three conversions and a penalty. Rhys Harold replied with a penalty for the home side.

Defending champions Clonmel, Kilfeacle and Richmond all recorded bonus point wins for the second successive week and share top spot.

Clonmel defeated Galbally 40-15. Alex Sheehan, Luke Hogan, Greg O’Carroll, Niall Campion and Nick Thompson scored tries for Clonmel. Dylan Cadogan kicked three penalties and two conversions and Conor Cooney also added a conversion. John Kearns replied with five penalties for the visitors.

Kilfeacle ran in six converted tries in their 42-7 home win over Kanturk. Darren Lowry, Ciaran Lowry, Brian Roche, Tom Doyle, Jamie Heuston and Cormac Ryan scored tries for Kilfeacle. Heuston kicked four conversions and Shane Luby two. Raymond Alesana was Kanturk’s try scorer and Paul O’Keeffe converted.

Richmond defeated Youghal 34-13 at Richmond Park. Shane Halpin, Tadgh Bennett, Jonathan Tully, Gearoid Phelan and Kealon Stephenson scored tries for the home side. Bennett kicked a penalty and two conversions and Brian Mullins converted one. Steve Kelly and Damien Kiely replied with tries for Youghal and Keith McCarthy kicked a penalty.

Clanwilliam maintained their challenge with a 32-19 home win over Cobh Pirates and are a point behind the leaders. Kevin O’Donnell scored two tries for the Tipperary side and Derek Shiels and Bryan O’Rahilly got one apiece. Niall Leahy kicked three conversions and two penalties. Stephen Hickey, Ian O’Donovan and Rory Geary were try scorers for the Pirates and Ian Jones added two conversions.

Newcastle West won the west Limerick derby defeating Abbeyfeale 20-13. Sean Herlihy Sean Murphy and Sean Ivers scored tries for Newcastle West and Herlihy kicked a conversion and a penalty. Colm O’Sullivan and Mike O’Donnell replied with tries for the home side Derry O’Connor kicked a penalty.

Waterpark defeated St. Senan’s 36-0. Paddy Kiersey scored two tries for the home side, Rory Hannon, Scott Hornibrook and Danny O’Driscoll got one each. Tom Kiersey kicked four conversions and a penalty.

Kinsale are the new leaders in Division Two after their 14-13 win at Muskerry. Kinsale’s Barry McGrory scored a try, two penalties and a drop goal. Killian Horgan replied with a try for Muskerry, Jonathan Buckley kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Old Christians who started the day on top of the table lost away to Mallow 18-11. Mike Sweeney and Peter Cosgrove scored tries for Mallow and Jimmy Glynn kicked a conversion and two penalties. Gale Kaleng replied with a try for Old Christians and John Marnell kicked two penalties.

Thurles bounced back from their opening day defeat in Clonakilty last week with a 38-10 home win over Killarney. Eoghan O’Dwyer (3), Ciaran Ryan (2) and Darragh Sweeney were Thurles try scorers. John Lillis kicked three conversions and Aidan Dwyer one.

St. Mary’s began their campaign with a 32-10 home win against Clonakilty. Darragh Kerley, Ger Clancy, Stuart Lipper, Paul Loughran and Keith McManus scored tries for the Saints. Sean Lyons kicked a conversion and a penalty, Adam Guerin also added a conversion. Eric Kingston replied with a try for the visitors and Mark Purcell kicked a conversion and a drop goal.

Waterford City opened their campaign with a 22-7 home win against Ballincollig. Jack Caffrey, Aidan Power, Tom Bowes and Michael Hayes scored tries for Waterford and Aidan Foskin kicked a conversion. Kevin Ryan replied with a try for the visitors and John Sheehan converted.

Sean Grey gave Crosshaven an early lead with a try in their tie away to Castleisland but an injury to the referee meant the game had to be abandoned.

The Third Division kicked off on Friday night with Chorca Dhuibhne travelling to Fethard where the home side won 53-9. Seamus Moriarty kicked three penalties for the Gaeltacht side.

Charleville defeated Ennis 18-10. The winners were awarded a penalty try and Bertie Cagney scored their second try. Jesse Smith kicked two penalties. Cian Guilfoyle replied with a try for Ennis and Bryan Murphy converted and also added a penalty.

Tralee had a bonus point 26-6 home win against Fermoy. Kevin O’Shea scored two tries for the home side and Martin Stack and Michael Maher got one each. Ben O’Neill converted three of the tries. Dylan Lacey kicked two penalties for Fermoy.

Douglas-Carrigaline suffered a heavy defeat away to Dungarvan 61-5. Nick Cassidy scored the visitor’s try.

Bantry Bay lost away to Killorglin 21-9.
