Weather disrupts a quite weekend as Kilfeacle become the third Munster side to reach an All Ireland Junior Cup Final.

A large crowd turned up at Kilfeacle last Saturday to see the home side defeat Newcastle West 17-14 in a very exciting contest.

Kilfeacle will face defending champions Ashbourne in the All Ireland Junior Cup Final on 27th January at a venue yet to be concerned.

Jamie Heuston opened the scoring with a penalty for Kilfeacle before a Darragh Tracey try converted by Sean Herlihy gave Newcastle West a 7-3 half time lead.

An intercept try by Tracey converted by Herlihy extended the visitors lead to 14-3 early in the second half. Kilfeacle got back in the game with a push over try which Heuston converted.

Diarmuid O’Donnell scored the match winning try and Heuston converted to send Kilfeacle into the final.
Holders Ashbourne had to come from 7-3 down at half time to beat Ballina 22-17.

There was only one game played in the Munster Junior League and that was the Division Two clash between Mallow and Ballincollig at the North Cork venue which Mallow won 10-3.

Sean Glynn scored a try for Mallow and Jimmy Glynn converted and also added a penalty. John Sheehan replied with a penalty for Ballincollig.

The Ennis v Killorglin Martin O’Sullivan Cup semi-final was postponed until next weekend.

Sunday’s Well retained the Muskerry (O’Sullivan) Cup with a 15-3 win over Fermoy at Ballyanly. Chris Smithers, Willie McCarthy and Kenny Barry scored tries for the ‘Well and Barry added one conversion.

In the Junior 2 League South Highfield had to come from 14-3 down to beat Bandon 24-20 to secure their place in the League playoffs in the New Year.

Darren Walsh and Eoghan McNally scored tries for Highfield, Dave Eustace kicked three penalties and a conversion and Max Bourin added a penalty.

Dolphin also secured their place in the League playoffs with a 17-10 away win at Cobh. Tadgh Hawes and Patrick Carey scored tries for Cobh.
