Greg O'Mahony scored in Skibbereen's 24-19 away win against St. Senan's

With just four games remaining in the First Division of the Munster Junior League only three points separates the top four sides.

Leaders Richmond game with St Senan’s was postponed because of water logged pitch and this allowed the chasing pack to catch up.

Bandon could have gone top if they could get a bonus point victory at Clanwilliam but they had to settle for a 17-13 victory. Conall Bromwich scored two tries for Bandon and Gearoid Crowley one. Rhys Harrold kicked one conversion. Jack O’Dwyer Was Clanwilliam’s try scorer and Niall Leahy converted and added two penalties.

Kilfeacle edged out Newcastle West 21-20 in a thrilling contest at the west Limerick venue and are two points behind the leaders. Darren Lowry opened the scoring with an intercept try and Jamie Heuston converted. A try by James Hogan and two Heuston penalties gave Kilfeacle an 18-8 interval lead. Sean Ivess replied with a try for the home side and Sean Herlihy kicked a penalty.

Four Herlihy penalties edged Newcastle West ahead with only a minute remaining but Heuston struck with an added time penalty for a Kilfeacle victory.

Clonmel remain in contention after their 33-24 away win at Abbeyfeale and are three points behind the leaders. Dylan Cadogan, Tony Cantwell, Nick Thomson (2) and Neville Melbourne were Clonmel’s try scorers and Cadogan kicked four conversions. Philip Collins, Liam O’Connor, Sean Scannell and Philip Daly scored tries for Abbeyfeale and Tom Hassett kicked two conversions.

Waterpark kept their challenge on course for a top four finish with a 37-8 home win over Galbally. Peter Traynor, Mark Molloy, Emmett O’Shea, Glenn Kavanagh and James Kiersey scored tries for Waterpark. Tom Kiersey added three conversions and two penalties. Liam Casey scored a try and a penalty for Galbally.

Skibbereen eased their relegation worries with a 15-13 home win over Youghal thanks to a last minute penalty from Denis McCarthy. Greg O’Mahony and Ger Hurley scored tries for Skibb’ and McCarthy converted one. Alan Frahill O’Connor replied with a try for Youghal and Keith McCarthy kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Division 2 leaders Crosshaven lost away to Kinsale 14-12. Will Crowley scored a try for Kinsale and Barry McGrory kicked three penalties. Crosshaven replied with tries from Ian Smith and Tomas O’Donovan and Smith added one conversion.

Thurles have moved into second place five points behind the leaders after their 12-7 away win at Mitchelstown. Eoghan O’Dwyer and Mark Cummins scored tries for Thurles and Aidan Dwyer kicked a conversion. Owen Butler replied with a try for Mitchelstown and Patrick Magee converted.

Castleisland kept their outside hopes of promotion alive with a 21-15 away win at Mallow. Willie Casey scored two tries for the winners and Kieran Downey got one. Dan O’Shea converted all three. Brian Henry and Michael Lenihan replied with tries for Mallow and Jimmy Glynn kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Old Christians defeated bottom side Killarney 24-15 with tries from Alan O’Dea, Jeff Hodder, Eoin Murnane and Luke Mangan. Ryan O’Connell kicked two conversions. Michael Sheehan, Paul Moynihan and Brian Lynch were Killarney’s try scorers.

Muskerry won the mid Cork derby defeating Ballincollig 24-15 at Tanner Park. Lewis Grice, Jonathan Buckley and Shane Godsil scored tries for Muskerry and Buckley converted all three tries and also added a penalty. Bob Foulkes and Michael Ward replied with tries for Ballincollig and John Sheehan kicked a conversion and a penalty.

In Division 3 leaders Fethard game at Bantry was postponed due to a water logged pitch.
Charleville took full advantage in their top of the table clash with Dungarvan to win 24-3. David Hickey opened the scoring for the home side with a penalty but a try by Bertie Cagney and a penalty try had Charleville 12-3 ahead at half time. Darren Butler and Cathal O’Carroll added further tries for the visitors with O’Carroll converting his own try.

Ennis is moved into third place with 36-3 win at Moneygourney against Douglas-Carrigaline. David Flynn, Joe Moloney, frank Coffey and Enda Galvin scored tries for the Clare side and they were also awarded a penalty try. Ronan O’Halloran kicked three conversions and a penalty. Padraig McSweeney replied with a penalty for the home side.

Fermoy kept their outside hopes alive with a 12-3 home win over Chorca Dhuibhne on Friday night. Dylan Lacey kicked three penalties and a drop goal for the winners. Nathan Flannery kicked a penalty for the Kerry Gaeltacht side.

Tralee continued their recent good run with a narrow 26-23 away win at Killorglin. Fearghal Ó’Nuallain and Michael Lyne scored tries for Tralee and Jack Quilter kicked three penalties two conversions and a drop goal. Cathal Doyle, and Tony Lynch were Killorglin’s try scorers and Luke O’Shea kicked two conversions and three penalties.
