Junior Rugby Round Up

Richmond are the early leaders in Division One of the Munster Junior League, Mallow lead Division 2 and Mitchelstown top Division 3.

Three of the scheduled games in the top flight did not go ahead as both Galbally and Kanturk had bereavements in their clubs and at Kilfeacle their game was called off as their posts were chopped down and pitch was deemed unplayable.

Richmond proved too strong for St. Senan’s running out 46-10 winners. Jack O’Hanlon, Stephen Collins and Paudie Kilcoyne each scored two tries for Richmond. Mike Kelleher and Eoin Hanly got one apiece. Brian Mullins kicked two conversions and O’Hanlon one. Warren Kelly scored a try for Senan’s and Craig Airey converted and added a penalty.

Defending champions Bandon made it two wins out of two with a 26-6 home win over Clanwilliam on Saturday night. Mike Murphy, Santiago Gonzalez, Kieran Phelan and Sean Galvin scored tries for Bandon. Kerry Desmond kicked three conversions. Niall Leahy replied with two pens for Clanwilliam.

Clonmel defeated Abbeyfeale 47-14. Niall Campion and Luke Hogan each scored two tries and Dylan Cadogan and James Kehoe got one each. Darren Cass kicked four conversions and three penalties. Liam O’Connor and Adrian Enright replied with tries for Abbeyfeale and Derry O’Connor converted both.

A try from David Kingston and a Matthew Bushe penalty earned Skibbereen an 8-6 away win at St. Mary’s. Paul Loughran kicked two penalties for Mary’s.

Mallow have gone top in Division Two with a second successive bonus point win this time at home to Muskerry 30-10. Brian Ward, David Breen, Mike O’Flynn and Conor O’Donovan scored tries for Mallow and Breen kicked two penalties and two conversions. Aaron O’Riordan replied with a try for Muskerry and Jonathan Buckley kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Kinsale defeated Fethard 27-14 to make it two wins from two and are just a point behind Mallow. Jordan O’Regan, John Gallagher and two from Dan Cronin were Kinsale’s try scorers. Barry McGrory kicked two conversions and a penalty. Cathal Maher and Michael Gaynor scored tries for Fethard and Joe O’Connor converted both.

After their great win at Thurles last week Cobh Pirates surprisingly lost at home to Charleville 11-5. Damian Leahy scored a try for Charleville and Jesse Smith kicked two penalties. Dave Lambe replied with a try for Cobh.

Old Christians were edged out 14-13 at Rathcooney. Dean and Darren Walsh scored tries for Waterford City and Darren Walsh converted both. Chris Hartnett scored a try for Old Christians and John Marnell converted and added two penalties.

Fermoy defeated Youghal 10-8 at the east Cork venue. Eoin Lacey scored a try for Fermoy and Dylan Lacey converted and added a penalty. Youghal replied with a try from Cillian Daly and Paul Daly kicked a penalty.

Ballincollig defeated Thurles 22-18 at Tanner Park. Kevin Ryan, Conor O’Donovan and Michael Ward scored tries for Ballincollig and Charlie Boland kicked two conversions and a penalty. Kieran Ryan and Kieran Dunne replied with tries for Thurles and John Lillis kicked two penalties and a conversion.

In Division Three it is Mitchelstown who lead the way.

Mitchelstown defeated Bantry Bay 27-20. Euan Dunne, James Hennessy and David Sheehan scored tries for the north Cork side and Tom O’Callaghan converted all three and also added two penalties. Gareth Murphy and Pronsais Cronin re

plied with tries for Bantry and Andre Polivka converted both and kicked two penalties.

Tralee were 56-17 home winners against Douglas-Carrigaline. Mark Healy, Dave Donoghue and Denis Kelleher scored tries for Douglas-Carrigaline and Padraig McSweeney kicked a conversion.

Ennis opened their campaign with a ten try hammering of Chorca Dhuibhne on a 62-10 score line. Enda Galvin, Conor Collins, Cian Guilfoyle and Keelan Butler scored two tries each for the Clare side. Tony White and Eoin O’Ceallaigh got a try each. Ronan O’Hanlon kicked six conversions. Liam Flannery was the Kerry Gaeltacht’s side try scorer and Seamus Moriarty kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Dunmanway lost at home to Killarney 24-13. Eoin O’Sullivan was Dunmanway’s try scorer and Darragh McCarthy converted and added two penalties.

Scariff lost at home to Killorglin 22-13. Andrew O’Reilly and Timmy Lynch scored tries for Killorglin and Luke O’Shea added four penalties. Darren McNamara was Scariff’s try scorer and Dave Dineen converted and kicked two penalties.
