Junior Rugby Round Up

There was no change at the top of Division 1 of the Munster Junior League as all the top five sides won as the competition reached the half way stage.
Leaders Clonmel defeated Galbally 33-12. Luke Hogan scored two tries for the winners and Luke Noonan, Conor Pearson and Dylan Cadogan all scored tries for Clonmel with Darren Cass converting four of the tries, Pat power and Paudie Finnan replied with tries for the home side and John Kerins converted one.
Richmond maintained their challenge with a 32-7 away win at St. Mary’s. Corey Wells, Kieran Bennett, James Reeves and Stephen Collins scored tries for Richmond. Brian Mullins kicked three conversions and two penalties. Killian Markham replied with a try the Saints and Alan Kiely converted.
Bandon defeated Skibbereen in a thrilling local derby to take the spoils and the Jimmy Kingston trophy after a last minute penalty try earned them a 22-20 victory.
Playing with a strong wind in the opening half Bandon raced into a 10-0 lead with a penalty from Kerry Desmond and a penalty try.
A try from Jack Breen opened Skibbereen’s account but Matthew Crowley replied with a try to give Bandon a 15-5 half time lead.
A try from Joe Hickey and a penalty by Matthew Bushe closed the gap to two before Michael O’Donovan put Skibb ahead with a try which Bushe converted.
In a dramatic finish Bandon were awarded a penalty try in the last minute to win it.
Newcastle West won the West Limerick derby defeating Abbeyfeale 24-15 in a game that also doubled up as Junior Challenge Cup tie.
Taliaolega Tuaau, Brian O’Sullivan and Donal O’Sullivan scored tries for the winners and Sean Herlihy converted all three tries and also added a penalty.
Colm O’Sullivan and Kieran McCarthy replied with tries for Abbeyfeale and Derry O’Connor kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Kilfeacle maintained their challenge with a 22-0 away win at Kanturk. James Hogan, Cian Ryan and Jack McLoughlin scored tries for Kilfeacle and Brodie Flannery kicked two conversions and a penalty.
At the other end of the table Crosshaven defeated Clanwilliam 21-0 with tries from Cian McGovern, Sean Gray and Tim Marron with McGovern converting all three.
St Senan’s defeated Waterpark to ease their relegation worries with a 32-25 home win over Waterpark. Eoghan McCoy, Conor Ferns, Dale O’Loughlin, Emile Mafiat scored trys for Senan’s and Craig Airey added three conversions and two penalties.
Waterpark replied with tries from Scot Hornibrook, Gary Walsh, Eugene Smith and Alex Molloy. Glen Kavanagh kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Leaders Mallow won a thrilling top of the table clash in Division Two with a 14-7 home win over second placed Clonakilty. This was the first time this season that Mallow failed to record a bonus point victory.
Tries from David Breen and Conor O’Donovan both converted by Breen had Mallow 14-0 ahead at half time. A try by Ger McCarthy converted by Eoghan Deasy setup a thrilling finish.
Kinsale kept their challenge alive with a last minute try to beat Ballincollig 27-23.
Phyllip Walters, Fergus Gimblett, Timmy Lynch and Ciarán Keogh were Kinsale’s try scorers and Barry McGrory kicked two conversions and a penalty. Ballincollig replied with tries from Fionnan McDermott and Vincent Browne. Charlie Boland converted both and added three penalties.
Fermoy remain in fourth place after their 24-14 away bonus point win in Waterford. James O’Driscoll scored two tries for the winners and Darren Hartnett got one. They were also awarded a penalty try and Dylan Lacey kicked one conversion.
Thurles recorded their first win defeating Muskerry 13-11 at Loughtagalla. Conor O’Hagan and Mark Cummins scored tries for Thurles and John Lillis added a penalty. Cathal Dennehy replied with a try for Muskerry and Jonathan Buckley kicked two penalties.
Charleville defeated Castleisland 36-6 Ger Sheehan scored two tries and Sean O’Connor, Kieran O’Connell and Cathal Finn were the other try scorers. Jessie Smith converted two of the tries and they were also awarded a penalty try. William Nolan was Castleisland’s try scorer.
Old Christians eased their relegation worries with a 20-15 win at Rathcooney against Cobh Pirates.
Jeff Hodder, Cian Smith and Rohan Kiely scored tries for the home side and John Marnell kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Noel O’Donovan and Martin Clifford scored tries for Cobh and Jack Hickey kicked a penalty and a conversion.
The Fethard v Youghal game was postponed because of a water logged pitch.
Tralee defeated Mitchelstown 17-7 in the top of the table clash in Division Three at Mitchelstown.
Fearghal Ó’Nuallain and Eoin O’Carroll scored tries for Tralee and Jack Quilter converted both and added a penalty. Mitchelstown were awarded a penalty try.
Killarney kept up their challenge with a 16-11 away win at Bantry. Paul O’Sullivan scored a try for Killarney and Oisin O’Shea converted and added three penalties.
Gareth Murphy was Bantry Bay’s try scorer and Jason Wycherly kicked two penalties.
Dungarvan defeated Ennis 34-14. Alan McMahon, Laurence Houlihan, Shane Norris.
David Hickey and Martin Houlihan scored tries for Dungarvan and Hickey kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Killorglin defeated Chorca Dhuibhne 27-17, Rob Lynch scored two tries for the winners and Tom Healy and Donogh McGillycuddy got a try each.
Luke O’Shea kicked two conversions and a penalty. Caoilte Curneen and Brian Murphy scored tries for the west Kerry Gaeltacht side and they were also awarded a penalty try.
Scariff defeated Dunmanway 12-5. Willie Fitzgerald and Declan Noonan scored tries for Scariff and Jason Monaghan kicked a conversion. Tom Daly was Dunmanway’s try scorer.
