Junior Rugby Roundup & Weekend Results

There were big upsets in the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup semi-finals as both Clonmel and Waterpark booked their place in the final with away wins.

Holders Kilfeacle were very disappointing at home to Clonmel going down to a 37-18 defeat.

Having last week qualified for the All Ireland Junior Cup Kilfeacle were on the back foot from the kick off as Clonmel Captain Tony Cantwell opened the scoring with a try which Dylan Cadogan converted inside the opening minute.

Jamie Heuston kicked a penalty for Kilfeacle and it looked like game on and a repeat of their 22-22 draw in the League earlier in the season.

Conor Cooney added a second try for Clonmel on fifteen minutes and Cadogan followed up with a penalty to make it 15-3.

A penalty try on the half hour mark and one from Greg Carroll converted by Cadogan gave the visitors a 29-3 half time lead.

Charles Walsh opened proceedings in the second half with a try for Kilfeacle.

Any hopes of a comeback by the holders were quickly squashed as Dylan added a penalty and Luke Hogan went in for a converted try.

Walsh and Keith Burke scored late tries for Kilfeacle but it is Clonmel who advanced quite comfortably.

In the other semi-final Waterpark over turned an 8-5 half time deficit to beat Clanwilliam 17-8 at Clanwilliam Park.

A try from Vivian Grisewood and a penalty from Niall Leahy had the Tipperary side ahead at the interval 8-5. Glenn Kavanagh replied with a try for Waterpark.

A try from James Kiersey and a penalty try saw Waterpark book their final place.
