Junior Weekend Preview

The Munster Junior League resumes this weekend with a full programme of games across all three Divisions.

The game of the day in Division 1 sees leaders and defending champions Clonmel hosting second placed Newcastle West. The South Tipperary side hold a three point lead over Newcastle West and Clonmel with home advantage will be aiming to take another step closer to retaining the title.

Third-placed Bandon, who were defeated by Newcastle West in West Limerick last time out, will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to finish in the top four for the second successive year when they entertain St. Senan’s.

Abbeyfeale travel to Tipperary Town to take on Clanwilliam with both sides aiming to maintain their challenge for a top four finish.

At the foot of the table, Old Christians and Muskerry lock horns at Rathcooney, with both sides occupying the relegation places.

Clonakilty will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to take another step closer to safety as they host Galbally, who have claimed losing bonus points from their last two games.

Skibbereen, who are hovering above the drop zone face a tough assignment as they travel to West Tipperary to take on top four challenging Kilfeacle and Richmond host Cobh Pirates in a mid table clash.

In Division 2, third-placed Thurles host second-placed St Mary’s with four points separating these sides. The Premier County side will be looking to make the most of home advantage count to grind out a maximum point win in order to keep their outside challenge for promotion intact.

Leaders Waterpark will be expected to return with all points on offer from their away game against Ballincollig and Suirside neighbours Waterford City will also be expected to get a result from their trip to the Kingdom where they take on Castleisland.

Charleville, who are still without a win, entertain North Cork neighbours Mallow in a local derby and Crosshaven face a tricky task as they host Tralee, who are coming off the back of two successive wins in a bid to avoid the drop.

Bottom side Ennis are at home to Kinsale and Youghal welcome Presentation to East Cork.

It is the final series of games in Division 3 with the title still to be decided and clubs battling for position ahead of the play offs for the second promotion spot.

Killorglin just need three points from their trip to an inform Killarney side to be assured of the title and promotion.

Mitchelstown after their great Cup win last week will be aiming for a bonus point home win against Douglas-Carrigaline if they are to pip Killorglin for the title.

Fethard will be expected to record their fourth win as they host Bantry Bay in a basement clash and Fermoy make the long trip to the West Kerry Gaeltacht to take on Chorca Dhuibhne.
