Kerry Clubs Scrum Down
21st December 2010 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby recently held a scrum clinic with over 30 coaches in attendance from the West Munster clubs in Tralee RFC.
Munster Scrum Coach Paul McCarthy shared his expertise with attending coaches during an indoor presentation covering individual principles of scrimmaging through to the scrum as a unit.
The theme for the evening was ‘building the scrum’ where Paul utilized the West Munster Under 16 Cadets & Under 17 development squad packs to demonstrate scrimmaging warm up exercises and individual scrimmaging techniques. This included core and head stability, body positioning, building a front row and full engagement sequence.
Also running on the night were the West development squads who were returning to training after the recent bad weather.
With over 50 players in attendance, the forwards took part in the scrum workshop with Paul and the remaining players were guided by West Munster development squad coach Dermot O’Sullivan.
Munster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank Tralee RFC for the use of their facilities on the evening.
