Kilfeacle Crowned All Ireland Junior Cup Champions

Kilfeacle are crowned All Ireland Junior Cup Champions and thus became the second Munster side to lift the trophy.

Having lost the final two years ago to Ashbourne 18-9 Kilfeacle made no mistake at the second attempt; when they defeated Dromore 18-24 in a thrilling final at Coolmine.

Darren Lowry opened the scoring with a try for Kilfeacle which Willie Staunton but the Ulster side hit back minutes later with a try from Adam McDonald and Lee Stephenson converted.

A penalty and a drop goal from Willie Staunton put the Tipperary side ahead but a try by Brian McClearn converted by Stephenson made it 14-11. Stephenson extended his side’s lead with a penalty.

A try by Kevin Kinane converted by Staunton restored Kilfeacle’s lead 18-17.

A second drop goal from Staunton and a conversion of a try by Lowry made it 28-17.

Dromore did score a converted try late in the game but Kilfeacle were worthy winners.
