Young Munster recently hosted the third Marie Hourigan Memorial Tournament.
A total of seven girls’ schools competed in the tag rugby tournament which included FCJ Laurel Hill, Cresent College Comprehensive, Villiers, Laurel Hill Colaiste, FCJ Laurel Hill, Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh and St Marys Corbally.
FCJ Laurel Hill were the eventual winners in the senior competition and St Marys Corbally took the junior title.
The tournament is in memory of former school friend, Marie Hourigan. Marie's mother and family attended the event in support of the annual competition.
Sevens Rugby At Shannon RFC
With the ever increasing popularity of 7's rugby in Ireland, it is fitting that squads of U14 players from across the province converged on Shannon RFC's grounds in Coonagh recently.
Teams from Tipperary, Clare, Kerry and Limerick attended and took part in an event organised by the Munster Rugby Domestic Game Department.
The finals saw St Marys (Newport) defeat St John Bosco (Kildysart) in the bowl final. The final of the plate was won by SMI (Newcastlewest) and the cup final saw Crescent College Comprehensive narrowly defeat CBS Nenagh in a rematch of last years final in the same event.
