Latest Level 3 COVID-19 Guidelines For Clubs And Schools

The IRFU wish to advise clubs and schools of rugby activity permitted as per Level 3 of the Government of Ireland Plan For Living With COVID-19.

Key-Points

  • Non-contact training only in pods of up to 15 is permitted for all ages.
  • Tag and touch rugby are classed as non-contact sports.
  • No matches are permitted.
  • Clubs must continue to comply with all government guidelines and demonstrate safe behaviour.
  • Masks should be worn at all times by anyone not playing rugby.

Full guidelines are below:

Training

  • Non-contact training only in pods of up to 15 for all ages.
  • Tag and touch rugby are classed as non-contact sports.
  • Collective indoor training including use of gym equipment is not permitted.
  • Training sessions must not exceed the duration time normally associated with the activity.
  • Strict avoidance of gatherings, including social gatherings, before or after.
  • Strict adherence to two-metre physical distancing before and after, on the sidelines and avoidance of team huddles.
  • Hand sanitisation facilities available at all times.
  • Good coughing and sneezing etiquette.
  • Pre-Rugby Personal Assessment Declaration to be completed before every session.
  • Masks should be worn at all times by anyone not playing rugby.

Matches

  • No matches to take place.

Facilities

  • Shower and Changing facilities to remain closed.
  • Commercial activities operated by clubs including bars and cafe facilities are subject to relevant sector guidelines.

Spectators

  • Spectators are not permitted.
  • Parents/Guardians attending in a safeguarding/supervisory capacity are not classified as a spectator. However, strict social distancing and public health guidelines should be adhered to at all times. In that context, one parent/guardian per child is permitted to attend should they consider it necessary.
  • All Parents/Guardians must complete a Pre-Rugby Personal Assessment Declaration Form prior to arriving on site.

Health & Safety

  • Clubs must ensure their COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan is up to date in line with the latest government guidelines.
  • A risk assessment should be carried out where appropriate for activities not previously included.
