Latest Video: Female Coaching Workshop
6th March 2015 By Munster Rugby
Hear from the expert tutors, participants and check out footage from behind-the-scenes at the first Munster Rugby workshop that was specifically aimed at coaches of women’s and girls’ rugby.
Last month's booked-out course, which was co-ordinated by Women's Community Rugby Officer Amanda Greensmith, proved to be a huge success.
40 coaches attended the day-long course that ran from 10am until 4:30pm in UL with a mixture of on-pitch coaching as well as talks from Irish Grand Slam winning Coach Philip Doyle and Munster Senior Women's Coach Wayne Falvey.
Among other topics, Philip spoke about his time coaching the Irish side and his approach to training with Wayne explaining the pathway for players onto the Munster underage and senior sides.
A wide range of coaching aspects were covered on the day including general movement, breakdown, backline attack, line-out, scrum and strength and conditioning.
The tutors on the day included included Peter Malone, Keith Murphy, Marcus Horan (below, going through scrum work with the coaches), Ross Callaghan and Aiden McNulty.
The workshop enhanced the coaches' knowledge and allowed them to identify craft work that will help players refine their individual skills.
The day proved to be a great success and the coaches have given very positive feedback with similar events to be organised in the coming months.
Munster Rugby would like to thank the players of St. Mary's, Richmond, Shannon and Highfield for their participation in the course.
