Latest Video: Mini Rugby Festival
2nd April 2015 By Munster Rugby
Hear from the organisers, coaches and check out the action from last month’s U-12 mini rugby festival at Rockwell College.
24 teams from across Munster participated in the fourth year of this very successful festival.
John Henry, Chair of Munster Mini Rugby said: "We had a great day with 24 teams across Munster bringing over 300 kids here to play in the U-12 festival.
"Each team got at least three matches so that meant that everybody played at least 60 minutes of rugby. This is a day that kids remember, especially the big photo at the end, the hooters kicking off the match and the players they would have played against."
Henry continued: "Our next plan is to have an U-11s festival in Garryowen on April 11, that's the first festival we'll have as a pan-Munster competition at U-11s. Our goal then after that is to hold at least four of these festivals at various age-groups in the 2015/16 season."
Neil Dennehy brought his Clonmel RFC side to the festival. "You have to say that the Munster Branch really know what they're doing when they set up these festivals," said Dennehy. "They do a great job on it, kids are looked after in a huge way, it's safety first, which is great and it's a great experience for all."
The next Mini Rugby Festival will cater for U-11 teams and takes place at Garryowen FC on Saturday, April 11. For more information, please email minirugbysecretary@gmail.com or minirugbychair@gmail.com.
