Listowel Girls Play First Home Games
1st December 2014 By Munster Rugby
The U-15 and U-18 girls’ teams of Listowel RFC played their first ever home games in the Munster League on Saturday.
Both sides were only started up last year and the future looks bright as an U-13 girls side has been established this season.
The teams are always looking for new players with no experience needed. Training takes place every Thursday and Saturday, for queries contact Kieran Reilly on 087 1341 805.
The squads have been boosted as players from Tralee RFC have also come on board which has been a great addition to Listowel RFC.
U-15s: Listowel 36 – 20 Shannon

On a Sunny day in Listowel Town Park, the U-15s set foot onto the pitch on another first in the history of the club.
It was their first home game in the Munster League which is huge achievement for the girls section that was only set up a season ago.
There were no favours given in terms of the fixture. Shannon, with a long and rich history, are a well established club who took to the field with great confidence. But little did they know that the girls from Kerry had other plans.
Listowel kicked off and immediately put the girls in blue(Shannon) under pressure and with our players making the right calls and decision on the pitch, Shannon soon realised that they were not going to have it all their own way.
Listowel executed clever plays which provided great field position keeping the blues pinned in their own half for most of the first half. This pressure was turned to points with excellent tries from great back plays but this was on foot of superb grafting from Listowel forwards who tackled and rucked with great vigour.
The first home game in the Munster league also ended up being the team's first league win. Well done to all involved in Listowel RFC as this is a reflection on the great work by all the coaches and parents. Special mention to Tralee RFC for their partnership through this season.
