Listowel/Tralee girl’s side was selected from all the U15 teams in Munster to represent their province on this great occasion. They will play against a side representing another province on the day and will also have the duty of forming a ‘Guard of Honor’ for the two teams.

This is a brilliant opportunity and a great reward for the girls, coaches and clubs involved, that have worked hard to promote girls rugby in Kerry.

Some of the players and parents supporting Listowel/Tralee would not have seen women's rugby and will now get to witness their heros in the green jersey defend their Six Nations title in the campaign opener. There is two players in the Irish squad from Kerry named on the squad – Ciara Griffin and Zoe Grattage who hopefully will place on the day. Leinster’s Maz Reilly who has been a great supporter of girls rugby’ in the Kerry area has also been selected.

Listowel/Tralee have been in existence for only three years and in that time have established two girls squads at U15 and U18 level. This year Listowel RFC and Tralee RFC have set up their own U13 teams and in time this will double the amount of Kerry girls participating in rugby. This success would not be possible without the backing from the respective club boards.

The teams has made great progress in their development and have been in two finals to date. They are on the brink of reaching a further two finals with the U15s and U18s this Saturday, 30th January as they prepare to compete at the semi finals stage of the Munster Cup competitions.
