Intermediate School Killorglin at the Emerging Schools Finals Day in Thomond Park
The rugby development department have had a busy month with blitzes and school visits taking place across the province.
Clonmel kicked off the month as they played host to a 1st and 2nd year girls blitz.
Over 110 secondary school girls were in attendance on the day as they played a number of small games against each other.
Women’s Development officers Willie Shubart and Damian Hicks, East Munster Participation Lead Olan Daly and CCRO Joe Sheehan were all on hand throughout the day to ref the games, give guidance and to most importantly introduce the girls to rugby in a safe and fun manner.

Kanturk held a 1st year blitz for boys in the surrounding schools.
This blitz was a taster for those that had never played rugby before.
Alongside the games the development officers also hosted a tackle workshop for those that were not playing. This was a great opportunity to teach safe tackle technique and provide some tips for those who were only diving into the game on the day.
CCROs Kenneth Mills and Daire Daly and Participation Programme Coordinator Ray Gadsden were on hand for the day to both referee the games and teach that all important tackle workshop.
The students attending on the day came from Scoil Mhuire Kanturk, Colaiste Treasa Kanturk and Boherbue Community School.
Munster Rugby would like to thank Kanturk RFC for their hospitality and use of their fantastic facilities.
In Limerick the new Garryowen CCRO Karl O’Grady dropped into St Pauls National School in Dooradoyle to give them a beginners rugby session.
It was a great afternoon and fantastic to see so many faces afterwards.
Clanwilliam also played host this month as over 150 national school kids descended on the Tipperary club.
Munster players Mark Donnelly and Darragh McSweeney also dropped by on the day to meet the players and hand out medals.
Nenagh Ormond RFC also hosted a secondary school blitz this month.
A great display of rugby was on show on the day as the teams played a number of games throughout the day.

In Cork, Virgin Media Park hosted also hosted a blitz for secondary school students.
The day also included a talk from Athletic Development Coach Danny Johnson who gave an insightful talk on the importance of nutrition.
The Deise was the next stop of our provincial tour as Waterford based Participation Officer Conal Fitzpatrick organised national school blitz in Waterford City RFC for schools within the area.
As most of the students were new to rugby the game was adapted to a non contact version which all students to get involved, learn something new and have a bit of fun.
RPO Olan Daly, CCROs Drew Musa, Freddie Davies, Conor Sprat and Participation Programme Coordinator Ray Gadsden were also all there on the day to provide support.

The month culminated with the finals day of the North Munster Emerging Schools competition.
The schools headed to Thomond Park where CBS Nenagh came out victorious after defeating SMI Newcastlewest in the final.
The other schools in attendance on the day included St Annes, Borrisokane, Gaelscoil Luimhnigh, Villiers, St. Ciamins, Newport College, Intermediate Schools Killorglin, Scoil Pol, Thomond Community College, St. Patricks, St. Ailbes, Rice College, L.E.T, SMI and Cashel Community College.
