Massive Turnout For Concussion Workshops

Over 300 coaches, parents, players and referees have attended this season’s four Concussion Awareness Workshops with the next seminar to take place at Ennis RFC next Wednesday.

The impressive numbers attending the workshops continued last Wednesday as 35 participants attended the seminar in Bandon RFC.

The Workshops are hosted by the Munster Rugby Development Department, in conjunction with the IRFU.

They have been running since last year and are free of charge with all Club and School coaches and officials encouraged to attend.""

Dr. Garrett Coughlan, the IRFU's Medical Co-ordinator, hosts all of the workshops which include modules relating to Concussion Recognition Management and Return to Play protocols followed by a Question and Answer session.

The content has been designed to educate coaches, parents, players and referees on the dangers of concussion and how to recognise it.

The next Concussion Awareness Workshop will take place at Ennis RFC on Wednesday, December 10 at 7:30pm. Please note places are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.

The workshops will continue into the new year in Clanwilliam and Limerick IT with a timetable below. Please contact janeburns@munsterrugby.ie to register your place at a workshop.
