Meteor Munster Rugby Sevens at Garryowen F.C.

Munster Rugby last week officially launched the Meteor Munster Rugby Seven’s, the fourth annual club sevens rugby tournament in the province. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 21st August at 12.00 p.m. in Garryowen F.C.

Ten of Munster’s Senior Clubs line out on the day, including Munster Senior Cup winners Young Munster RFC and defending Meteor Munster Seven champions Thomond RFC.

In addition there will be junior squad representation from Richmond, Presentation, Newcastlewest, Killarney, Kilfeacle, Galbally, St. Mary’s and Cashel RFC as well as women’s teams from Fermoy, Tralee, Nenagh Ormond and Highfield RFC.

Rugby Sevens has recently been given a huge boost in profile as it is now an inclusion into the 2016 Olympic Games which will be held in Rio de Janerio.

Munster Domestic Rugby Manager, Ultan O’Callaghan, stated “it is fantastic to see both Munster Rugby and Meteor coming together to again support the domestic club game. Sevens rugby is an ideal platform for both adult retention and the talent development of provincial players and we look forward to showcasing the skill and ability that these players have to offer at this year’s Meteor Munster Sevens Tournament.

As in previous years the Meteor Munster Sevens promises to be a great family day out. In addition to an action packed rugby schedule there also promises to be a host of family entertainment planned including a bouncy castle, a barbeque and a live D.J.

Make sure to show your support at a great day out, the Meteor Munster Rugby Sevens. Please see schedule of events below:-
