Both Cork schools C.B.C. and P.B.C. have moved closer to a semi final spot in the Bowen Shield after yesterday’s fifth round series of games.
Christians made it five wins from five after their 15-3 home win over Crescent Comprehensive.
A penalty by Ryan Foley gave the home side a 3-0 lead but he was off target with several other efforts.
Chris McAuliffe extended Christians lead with a try on fifty seven minutes. Diarmuid Dee kept Crescent in contention with a penalty nine minutes from time.
Shane Galvin made sure of the points for C.B.C. when he barged over for a try in injury time and Foley converted.

P.B.C. kept their challenge alive with a 35-25 home victory over Castletroy College at Wilton.
In a game that produced nine tries the scoreline flattered the Cork side as Castletroy College’s never say die attitude saw them rally in the final minutes of the game but time ran out on them.
The home side opened the scoring with a penalty from Mark O’Callaghan but the visitors hit back with out half Conor Burns scoring a penalty, try and conversion for a 10-3 lead.
Scrum half Tommy Duggan and Gavin O’Callaghan scored tries for Pres’ late in the opening half but a Burns penalty tied up the scores on the stroke of half time.
Pres’ hit a purple patch in the third quarter scoring three tries from Matthew Curtin, Ryan Callanan and Peter O’Brien to lead 30-13 with Mark O’Callaghan adding a conversion.
Mark O’Callaghan extended the lead with a try five minutes from time but a late rally by Castletroy yielded tries from Eoghan Clancy and Dave Grant, one of which Burns converted.

Ard Scoil Ris took a big step towards a quarter final place with a 15-12 victory over Glenstal Abbey at Murroe. Patrick Kerins and Kieran Power scored tries for the winners and Ronan McKenna added a conversion and penalty. Eoin Hurley and Tom Ryan replied with tries for the home side and Paddy Glavey kicked a conversion.
Rockwell kept their challenge on track with a 31-12 away win over St. Munchin’s. Eamon Barron, Greg Henry, David Johnson and Simon Brennan scored tries for the winners and Coleman Kennedy converted all four and also added a penalty.
C.B.C. recorded a comprehensive 43-7 home win over Crescent Comprehensive in the McCarthy Cup at Lansdowne with two tries by Colm Fitzgerald and a try each by Greg Roche, Killian Doyle, Michael Clune, Daniel Walsh and Darren Lee. Michael O’Halloran also added four conversions. Aidan Reidy got a try for the visitors which was converted by Shane Eades.
Castletroy College ended P.B.C. unbeaten run with a 17-12 victory at Wilton. The visitors led 17-0 at half time but a second half rally by Pres’ fell short as the Limerick school held out for victory.
Ard Scoil Ris kept up their challenge with a 9-3 away win over Glenstal Abbey and Rockwell had a 31-11 victory over St. Munchin’s.
