Mid Week Schools Rugby Update

The battle is hotting up with one round remaining for the qualifying places in the Bowen Shield and McCarthy Cup.
With leaders Crescent College Comprehensive game with Glenstal Abbey in the Bowen Shield postponed, P.B.C. have moved to the top of the table after their 25-20 away win over Castletroy College. Jerry Roche, Ben Murphy, Michael Murphy and Cormac Dineen scored tries for the Mardyke College and Conor Flanagan kicked a conversion and penalty. Castletroy replied with tries from Keith O’Donoghue and Jack Tiernan. Mark McCarthy kicked a drop goal and Paul Butler a conversion.
St. Munchin’s College defeated Bandon Grammar 27-8. Luke O’Halloran scored two tries for the winners and Dean O’Neill, Ben Kilkenny and Eoin Brennan got one each. O’Halloran also added a conversion.
Rockwell kept up their challenge with a 38-0 away win over Villiers. Aidan Moynihan scored a try and four conversions, Liam Casey got a try and two conversions, Oisin Leahy got two tries and Denis O’Connell and Lukas Kaminski scored a try each.
C.B.C. moved ahead of Ard Scoil Ris in the table with a 39-3 away victory. James O’Flynn scored two tries; Thomas Quinlan added a try and conversion. Oisin McSwiney and Shane McAuliffe got one each and Mickey Fleming kicked a drop goal, penalty and three conversions.
It was a double for Christians in Limerick as they ended Ard Scoil Ris’s unbeaten run in the McCarthy Cup with a 13-10 win at Coonagh. Conor Leahy scored a try for C.B.C. and Michael O’Halloran added a conversion and two penalties. Ty Chan replied with a try for the home side and Peadar Collins kicked a penalty and a conversion.
Crescent College Comprehensive maintained their challenge for a top two finish with a 24-13 win over Glenstal Abbey at Dooradoyle. Billy O’Hora scored two tries for the winners and Calvin Nash and Cian Clifford got one apiece. Clifford kicked two conversions and two penalties.
Castletroy put a big dent on P.B.C. hopes of making the play offs with a 28-20 home victory. Evan O’Connor scored two tries for the winners and Sean McBrearty and Mark O’Meara got one each. Conor Fleming kicked three conversions and a penalty. Colin Eustace scored two tries for the Cork side and Niall O’Brien and Sean Lucey scored a try each.
Glenstal Abbey won the Limerick City Senior Cup Final at Clanwilliam with a 9-8 victory over Rockwell.
