Mother’s Tag Rugby Blitz
31st May 2012 By Munster Rugby
"The Mother of all Tag" is a new women’s tag rugby initiative ran by Limerick City Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Munster Rugby.
This programme aims to develop 5 local women’s tag rugby teams City Wide.
The first blitz was held recently in UL Pavilion, where Mother’s from all over the City participated and showed off their skills and knowledge of the game.
Teams participating on the day were Moyross, Southill Area Centre, The UL Arena and Limerick City Sports Partnership combined with Southside CLASP (Community Leadership Arts and Sports Programme).
Each team consisted of 12 women 18+ yrs, who have attended regular training sessions in their local area, where they have learned the basic skills, rules and variations of tag rugby.
Once they had gained a basic understanding of the game they all competed against each other in the tag blitz, and the top 2 teams (Moyross and The UL Arena) played off for the title of the Mother of all Tag champions.
Congratulations to the Moyross who eventually came out on top.
