Moyross Community Enterprise Project

Moyross Community Enterprise Project

The Munster Rugby coaching department are actively supporting the ‘after school club’ through the Limerick regeneration rugby initiative in conjunction with the Moyross Community Enterprise Centre.

The aim of the project is to take young children out of disadvantaged areas in the northside of the city and provide them with the opportunity to take part in sporting activities.

It also aims at building relationships between children that meet in their normal day to day lives while attending St Munchins and Corpus Christi schools.

This is the second year the programme has been running and will continue through to the end of the school term in May 2012.

To date the project has been a great success with many of the children taking up rugby for the first time.

Participants have adapted well to structured and organised training sessions in a fun environment and under the guidance of coaches and supervisors they have learned the basic fundamental core skills of rugby and the benefits of playing sport.

Earlier in the year children associated with the project were selected to play in the Munster Rugby ‘Breaking Barriers’ Leprechaun Rugby Blitz and look forward to participating in upcoming underage competitions.

Munster Rugby would like to thank the Moyross Community Centre for their continuous support of this initiative and their assistance in coordinating the project.
