Munster Boys U18 Open Cup To Be Named After Late Tom Tierney
9th May 2024 By The Editor
Carrigaline-Dolphin will take on Shannon in the Munster Boys U18 Open Cup final this Saturday in Richmond RFC (12:30pm).
This years competition will see the cup dedicated to the late Tom Tierney who passed suddenly last year.
This dedication is fitting for the competition as both clubs and schools players come together this weekend and contest for this title.
Tierney was a great servant to Munster and Irish Rugby and would have been influential in many young players careers with his involvement in the province’s Academy and the National Talent Squad.
Tom’s wife Mary will be walking the Camino del Norte Bilbao to Santander later this month in memory of her husband to raise funds for the Children’s Grief Centre and Milford Care Centre.
So far Mary has raised over €25,000 for the two charities that have been major support networks for the family since his passing.
The link to donate to donate to Mary’s fundraiser can be found here.
Shannon approach this game as North Munster Cup champions having defeated St Marys-Richmond-UL Bohs last week.
Carrigaline-Dolphin will join them having won the Southern edition.
