Munster Cadets and RDS Squad Update

The Munster RDS squad (Under 17) recently took on Connacht in a friendly at St. Senans RFC.
The players have recently completed an 8 week summer camp programme at their regions – North, South, East and West Munster which incorporated training with the Munster U18 Schools Interprovincial squad every Wednesday at Rockwell College.
Programme modules included Strength & Conditioning, Position Specific Skills and Unit Work during their on pitch training sessions.
Players were also lectured by the IRFU Nutritionist Nora NiFhlannagain who advised them on healthy eating for athletes.
Other educational modules including ‘Mental Skills’ presented by Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O’Callaghan and ‘Laws Understanding’ presented by International Rugby Referee and IRFU Referee Development Manager Peter Fitzgibbon.
Next years Munster U18 Clubs side will be selected from this group of players over the course of the season as trials continue.
The four U16 Munster Cadets Squad (Year 1’s) also took on Connacht in a series of Round Robin matches as part of their ongoing development.
These players have also have just completed the same 8 week summer programme in conjunction with the U17 RDS Clubs. Squad’s will now be selected moving forward into their respective Winter Programme in the coming month.
