Munster Girls Schools 7’s Competition Kicks Off
12th April 2013 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Schools first and second year girls 7’s competition kicked off in Shannon RFC this week with six teams competing from across the province.
Pupils from Colaiste Ide Dingle, Colaiste Ide & Josef Abbeyfeale, Hazelwood College Dromcollaghar and SMI Newcastlewest all participated on the day and despite a heavy hail shower at the start of the competition, it failed to dampen the girls’ spirits or the quality of rugby played.
This is the first time that the schools have come together to participate in contact rugby and for some of the players it was the first time that they played the sport.
Thanks to the excellent work of all the coaches involved, the knowledge and manner in which the games were played was very entertaining and proved to be an enjoyable day for all involved.
