Munster Hosts Coaching Course For Women
6th April 2011 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby recently made history by holding the first ever Women’s only foundation coaching course in Clanwilliam F.C.
Coaches from clubs across the province including Abbeyfeale RFC, Highfield RFC, Fethard RFC, Clonmel RFC, Clanwilliam FC, Shannon RFC, Bandon RFC, Ballincollig RFC and Rockwell College were in attendance.
Taking part were a varying amount of experienced women from coaching and playing backgrounds which encouraged plenty of questions and discussion throughout the theory and practical modules.
Amanda Greensmith, Women’s Community Rugby Officer and course co-ordinator was delighted with the response to the course and the positive feedback from those that attended over the two days.
Commenting after the course she stated “I truly believe in Women taking responsibility for their own game through coaching, management and refereeing. Seeing the participation of the practical part of the course it was evident that the women gained a greater understanding and confidence in how to approach modern day coaching. I hope all that attended the course found it an enjoyable experience.”
Munster rugby would like to thank Clanwilliam F.C. for their support and hospitality over the weekend. For further information on women’s rugby and coaching please email amandagreensmith@munsterrugby.ie
