Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup Finals Confirmed

The line-up for the three Junior Clubs Finals was completed at Irish Independent Park on Tuesday night when defending champions Clonakilty defeated Ballincollig 37-3 in a repeat of last year’s decider.

The three finals will now be played at Irish Independent Park on Sunday 24th February starting with the Junior Clubs Challenge Cup final between Richmond and Bandon at 2pm.

The meeting of the Kerry clubs, Killorglin and Killarney, in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup Final will begin at 4pm and the Junior Clubs Shield Final between Clonakilty and Cobh Pirates will kick-off at 6pm.

This will be the first occasion that all three finals have been played at the same venue on the same day and will be a great advert for Junior Clubs rugby.

In the outstanding semi-final, Clonakilty proved too strong for Ballincollig all though the losers battled to the finish and were unlucky not to score a try.

It was 15-3 to Clonakilty at half time with Harry Dillon, Shane Deasy and Aaron Hayes scoring trys. Tony Keating kicked a penalty for Ballincollig.

Courtney Canning, Hayes and an intercept try by Eoghan Deasy which he converted completed the scoring.
