Munster Junior League Preview

The Munster Junior League resumes this weekend with leaders Clonmel expected to return home form West Cork with all points on offer as they take on struggling Clonakilty at the Vale.

Newcastle West will be expected to keep their challenge on track as they welcome bottom side Old Christians to West Limerick.

Clanwilliam, who are in third place place, make the short trip to Galbally, who will be boosted by last week’s narrow All Ireland Junior Cup win away to Gorey.

Cobh Pirates will be looking to make the most of home advantage as they take on third-placed St Senan’s at the Paddocks.

Richmond face a tricky task as they take on Kilfeacle at the West Tipperary venue and Bandon will be expected to return with the points from their Cork derby away to Muskerry.

Skibbereen, who are hovering above the drop zone, will have their work cut out as they welcome Abbeyfeale to the Carbery Showgrounds.

In Division 2, second placed Youghal lock horns with Crosshaven at the East Cork venue. These sides were promoted form Division 3 last season and Youghal will be expected to maintain their unbeaten run as Crosshaven’s recent defeat by Presentation has put a dent in their aspirations of a second successive promotion.

Waterpark, who are currently in top spot, make the long trip to the Kingdom to take on Tralee, who are propping up the table. The Suirsiders will be expected to return home with the points and keep their challenge for a quick return to the top flight on track.

Thurles and Waterford City will be looking to maintain their promotion bids as Thurles host struggling Ennis and City welcome Presentation to Kilbarry.

Charleville face a tricky task as they travel to Kerry to take on Castleisland.

In other games, St Mary’s host Ballincollig at Grove Island and Mallow entertain Kinsale in a Cork derby at St Joseph’s Road.

The game of the day in Division 3 sees Fermoy go head to head with leaders Killorglin in a top of the table clash at the Showgrounds. The North Cork side, who have a game in hand, will be looking to make home advantage count in a bid to claim maximum points and leapfrog the mid-Kerry side into pole position.

Third-placed Mitchelstown will be expected to get a result form their home meeting with Killarney.

In other ties Dungarvan travel to the West Kerry Gaeltacht to take on Chorca Dhuibhne and Douglas-Carrigaline are at home to Bantry Bay.
