Munster Junior League Preview 13th November

It is the fifth series of games in the Munster Junior League this weekend with a gap beginning to emerge in Division One with three sides looking like being the main contenders for honours as only two points separate these sides.

Leaders Cashel make the short journey to Thurles hoping to pick up maximum points, Last week’s hard earned home win over Thurles was Cashel’s first point dropped as they failed to pick up the bonus point. Thurles lost away to Skibbereen but more worrying was an injury to a prop which will be a serious blow to them as they try to move away from the relegation zone. Everything points to a win for the visitors.
Crosshaven in second place a point behind the leaders have a home tie against Skibbereen and they will be looking for a bonus point win before they head to Cashel next week for what could be a league decider. Skibbereen moved off the foot of the table with that bonus point home win over Thurles and will be hoping to at least get something from this tie.
Defending champions Richmond travel to Cobh and they will be full of confidence after last week’s big home win over Clonmel. The Pirates also produced a good performance with a dramatic come back to share the spoils with Clanwilliam 22-22. This will be a big test for the home side but Richmond will fancy their chances of another victory.
Clanwilliam who have moved up to fourth place, five points behind the leaders face a difficult task as they travel to Tralee. The Kerry side have seen their title aspirations disappear following defeats by Waterpark and Cashel and will want to get back to winning ways as they will want to at least finish in the top five and qualify for next season’s All Ireland Junior Cup.
St. Senan’s boosted by their home win over Old Christians last week will hope to pick up the points at home to Waterpark and move further up the table.
Kilfeacle who got their first win of the campaign last week travel to Clonmel in a confident mood against a side that are struggling in recent weeks.
Bottom side Ballincollig travel to Rathcooney to face Old Christians and the visitors will be anxious to halt a run of heavy defeats recently.

It is a meeting of the top two sides in Division Two when leaders Galbally face Kanturk who are in joint second place two points behind their opponents. Galbally ended Killarney’s unbeaten run last week with that 20-8 victory. Kanturk must get some thing from this encounter if they are to be serious contenders for promotion but the County Limerick side should continue their unbeaten run.
Castleisland who have moved into a challenging position for promotion face a difficult test away to St. Mary’s. The Limerick side must win this tie to get back into the promotion race.
Mallow who are just a point behind Kanturk and Castleisland should continue their push towards a First Division spot next season with a home win over Youghal.
Killarney
will hope to get back to winning ways with a home win over Newport.
Two sides who lost last week, meet at Kinsale when Newcastle West are the visitors. The West Limerick side cannot afford another slip up after last week’s surprising defeat at home by Charleville if they are to be serious contenders for promotion, while Kinsale’s defeat at Castleisland has ended their chances of moving up to the top flight.
Charleville boosted by last week’s victory will hope to take the points at home to Ennis while Bandon must win at home to Muskerry as they battle to move away from the foot of the table.

Third Division leaders Scariff put their unbeaten record on the line when they travel to third place Fermoy. The North Cork side are also unbeaten and are five points behind the leaders but with a game in hand. It should be a close contest with little expected between the sides at the finish.
Presentation who have moved up to second place travel to Carrick-on-Suir and will do well to preserve their unbeaten run this season with another victory.
Corca Dhuibhne will be confident of picking up maximum points when they travel to bottom side Bantry Bay and keep their promotion prospects on track.
Waterford City are at home to Douglas and both sides cannot afford another slip up if they are to remain serious contenders for promotion.
In the other games Dungarvan should get the better of Kilrush with home advantage and Abbeyfeale should fancy their chances away to Killorglin.
